Timing is a physical skill — but it’s built on a mental one: focus.

In this drill, every student has to watch, wait, and react at the right moment. Move too early, you’re out of position. Move too late, you’ve missed it. There’s no way to fake it and no way to coast through it.

That’s why we train it. The kids think they’re playing a game. What they’re actually developing is the ability to pay attention under pressure — a life skill that shows up at school, at home, and everywhere else long after class ends.

Every month at Budo Martial Arts, our kids learn a new life skill alongside their training. This month: Self-Respect.

On the mat, it looks like standing tall, speaking up, and carrying yourself with confidence. Off the mat, it’s the kid who makes eye contact, tries the hard thing anyway, and doesn’t need anyone else’s approval to feel proud of their effort.

Belts come and go. This is what they keep.

Get ready for an action-packed evening of fun at Budo Martial Arts’ Parents’ Night Out – Dodgeball Night!
Drop the kids off and enjoy a few hours to yourselves while they spend the evening playing exciting dodgeball games, team competitions, martial arts-inspired activities, music, pizza, and making new friends in a safe, instructor-supervised environment.
Whether your child is a current Budo student or has never trained before, everyone is welcome to join the fun!
