It's amazing how perfectly things align when you least expect it. A few days ago, a local nail technician reached out to see if I would be open to a floral trade for her salon services.
What she didn't know was that her message arrived at the exact moment I was feeling a bit worn out and in need of some self-care. Between the daily grind, working with soil, and always having my hair in a quick bun, I was overdue for some pampering.
Yesterday, I brought fresh blooms to her beautiful salon, and she worked her magic. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she is also a wonderful soul and truly my kind of person. I am so grateful for this connection and the reminder of how supportive our local business community can be.

Stop by Beloved Acres Co-Op & Homestead in Sandpoint to support our local organic farmers and artisans.The storefront is open to the public every Thursday from 8:00 AM–1:00 PM and 3:00 PM–5:30 PM. For guaranteed orders, you can also become a member on their website and pick up your items each Thursday.

I always leave extra seasonal, fresh-cut flowers on the market side, so be sure to check them out! It is the perfect, convenient way to get all of your organic goods from your favorite local farms in one spot.

We’re trying something new this season. It took some planning and a bit of risk, but so far it’s working both on paper and in the field. I’ve noticed that during the height of summer, flowers don’t sell as much. Most of you are out enjoying the weather, traveling, or tending to your own gardens. Our bulk bucket flower orders usually pick up in late summer and continue through fall. In the past, I used to worry about all the blooms going to waste and would do my darndest to sell them. So this past winter, when I planned our crops and harvest dates, I decided to schedule a mid-summer break. It’s a bit of an experiment, but I’m feeling good about it. Our zinnias, lisianthus, and most of our other focal flowers are still developing and haven’t bloomed, with the exception of a few dahlia varieties. If all goes as planned, they’ll begin to show color in August. This break gives us a chance to rest after a busy spring and early summer. Our busiest time is from fall through Christmas, so we’ll be ready and refreshed. Stay tuned—things will be fresh and exciting here from mid-August through October! I do want to note that we will have limited bouquets at a few local shops, such as The Peppered Mercantile, and will continue to offer fresh-cut herbs Beloved Acres Co-Op & Homestead, so be sure to plug into some of our amazing local businesses this summer!
