This summer, our amazing Head Start Family Advocates have been out across Brevard County participating in Back-to-School backpack giveaways and community events, sharing information about the wonderful opportunities Head Start offers to children and families. Their dedication to connecting with families and helping children get the best possible start is something we're incredibly proud of! ❤️

Today, we want to wish all of our 1st–12th grade students an amazing first day of school! 🎉 Kindergarten friends, your big day is Thursday, August 13, and we can't wait to see you shine! ⭐

Congratulations to Sandra Marines, Principal of Sherwood Elementary School for recognition of supporting and connecting school within BPS to the RCA house system! This program is a magical world where student engagement meets academic excellence for both students and teachers! It's time for Annual Re-enrollment! 🎒📚

Every student attending Brevard Public Schools, including BPS Head Start, is required to complete the Annual Re-enrollment Process before returning to school.

✅ FOCUS opened July 6
✅ The form is pre-populated with your student's current information.
✅ Most families can complete the process in 10 minutes or less per student.

Please don't wait until the last minute! Completing your child's re-enrollment helps ensure a smooth start to the new school year and keeps your student's information current.

Head Start is a free early childhood scholarship program designed to support children's learning and development while partnering with families to build a strong foundation for school success. If you're interested in applying, here's a simple step-by-step guide to the process:

📝 Step 1: Apply
Complete an application online at the Brevard Public Schools Head Start website or submit a paper application at a participating elementary school.

🤝 Step 2: Meet with a Family Advocate
After applying, a Family Advocate will contact you to schedule an intake meeting. During this meeting, you'll review your application and provide any documents needed to complete the enrollment process.

⏳ Step 3: Waiting List
All completed applications are placed on a waiting list until openings become available at eligible schools.

📋 Step 4: Selection Process
Head Start enrollment is not first come, first served. Applications are reviewed using federal guidelines that consider each family's unique circumstances. Children with the greatest identified needs receive priority for available openings.

🎉 Step 5: Enrollment
If your child is selected, a Family Advocate will contact you to schedule an enrollment meeting. During this final step, you'll complete any remaining paperwork and review important program information before your child begins Head Start.
