Surtax funding supports a range of physical security improvements across Brevard Public Schools. This is not a new tax. The Sales Surtax is a renewal of the existing half-cent sales tax that helps fund safe, maintained, and modern school facilities.

These investments include secure single-point entry, upgraded locks and gates, reinforced front office safety features, expanded security camera coverage, and modern emergency alert systems.
Every visitor entering a school is directed through the front office for check-in, helping schools monitor access and maintain secure learning environments.

These upgrades create safer entrances, give schools greater visibility across the property, and make it possible to respond quickly in an emergency.

Surtax helps ensure schools have the safety infrastructure needed to help protect students and staff.

Earlier this week we shared about the Sales Surtax.

The second measure on November's ballot is the 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 — a property tax renewal that funds the teachers, programs, and technology that make learning happen every day in Brevard County classrooms.

Millage is the small portion of property taxes that stays right here in Brevard County, locally approved by voters to directly support Brevard Public Schools. Every dollar collected goes to the people and programs inside our schools.

Millage funds three things: 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲, 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲.

During the first week of school, Mrs. Lau-Owen and a group of our 6th grade students (and families) took action by volunteering at The Children Hunger Project. Together, they packed 341 meals for children to take home over the weekend. Working together on an assembly line, the students quickly learned that when everyone plays a part, a lot can be accomplished in a short amount of time! We are so proud of our students for choosing to take ACTION, serve their community, and show that even young people can make a meaningful impact!

Who knew hopscotch was still such a hit with kids? The simple classic games of childhood are the best! Dismissal fun!
