Job description:
The Question Center, a small beach-based school program in Cocoa Beach is seeking an energetic, fun-loving teacher assistant/RBT or BT/after-care professional
Who we are:
The Question Center was founded in 2020 by a former teacher and a surf instructor. The Question Center seeks to educate children with a traditional learning base which is further complimented with progressive approaches through beach-based and hands-on learning while building self-confidence in an inclusive and safe environment.
The teaching environment is supportive, and staff work well with one another. There are no grade books, long and boring meetings, or an administrator looking over your shoulder. There is no standardized testing and our families are supportive of staff and policies.
What we are looking for:
IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS--YOUR RESUME WILL NOT BE REVIEWED
The teacher assistant should be energetic, kind, understanding and patient above anything else. The teacher assistant should have at least 3 years of experience as this is not the typical school environment. Teacher assistants should also have experience with neurodivergent youth. A bonus if the TA has RBT qualifications. Although curriculum is mostly provided, teacher assistants will need to also know how to create their own curriculum and resources.
The candidate is required to have classroom experience with underserved populations, but especially those with learning differences. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with multi-age classrooms. Exposure to Conscious Disciplining is a plus.
Classes are small, no more than 15, on any given day. Therefore, the expectation is that staff are engaging, and students receive valuable time and feedback from the staff.
