September is Organic Month, and the last chance for farmers exploring organic certification, or in transition, to access free resources such as webinars, videos, research and fact sheets from the Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP).

Find TOPP resources here: www.organictransition.org/resources.

Since 2022, TOPP has helped thousands of farmers transition to organic, connecting producers across the country with experienced mentors, technical assistance, educational opportunities and practical resources.

The American Grassfed Association's new Growing GRASS program is offering a $3,000 sign-up incentive to aid beef and bison producers with regenerative management practices, with several areas of support for operations, including soil testing, inspections, certifications, data collection, marketing and training.

When customers are shopping Kinloch Farm’s selection of nose-to-tail products, they can look at the color-coded in-store map and see where each group of animals is that particular day. They can also find a well-verse staff ready to talk tanning and beef tallow or suggest a favorite, lesser-known cut of beef.

Last month, we spent the afternoon talking through efficiencies in the field and in transit to processing facilities with the farmers and marketers at Kinloch. Custom upgrades to four wheelers have greatly shortened the amount of time needed for fence installs and moves. Regular reflection on systems, open lines of communication between staff, and careful record-keeping ensure mindful decisions are made with the quality of the products, caretaking of animals and integrity of the soils at top of mind.

When a farm operation takes time to well-oil their processes, they create room for creativity and attention to detail in the marketing department. Big thanks to the team at Kinloch for helping Future Harvest put on this educational workshop!

Powerful speech from Lisa Elaine Held from Civil Eats at last year’s conference.

She reminded us that while corporate consolidation and climate challenges put pressure on our food system, real change happens through the everyday acts of farmers, food advocates, educators, and communities working together.
When you support Future Harvest, you’re supporting this work: strengthening local food systems, building resilient farms, fostering connections, and ensuring a thriving future for agriculture in our region. 🌱
