We are now a few weeks into clinical rotations and our students are really strutting their stuff! I mean, look at this beautiful mucicarmine! Many of this year's students have already accepted job offers with a couple of weeks left to go!

At SUNY Cobleskill, we provide our students with a 400 hour clinical rotation at an affiliated hospital to refine their skills learned through the program, understand laboratory workflow, make valuable connections in the field, and potentially find their forever job!

We provide the tools for success. How will you use them?

Our last Finals Week Student Art Showcase is this gorgeous Hematoxylin and Eosin cross section of a guppy. Thank you for enjoying all of these student made slides and stains and for appreciating all of their hard work. We don't just let our students observe. By integrating hands-on experience with histological techniques, our program fosters the skills and expertise necessary for students to excel in the field of Histotechnology before ever setting foot in a professional lab. We hope they take this passion and dedication with them as they enter the profession. Until we stain again!

Yesterday was bittersweet as we bid farewell to our satellite Histo student at Rockland Community College. We want to thank everyone involved for making this year happen for this student and for the hard work and dedication as we close this chapter of our Program's history and congratulate Gabriela for successfully completing our hands-on coursework with the excellent and professional guidance from our adjunct faculty. From left to right we have Gabriela Guzman (student), Sergey Pushnikov (RCC Chemistry Instructor), Jameel Shariff (RCC Histo Adjunct Instructor), Marissa Supp (Cobleskill Histo Program Director), and Laura Skinner (Cobleskill Professor of Anatomy and Physiology). On today's Finals Week Student Art Showcase, we feature an Honors Research Project with the help of our Fisheries and Wildlife Department. Behold, fish gills with a trichrome stain! Our students are so creative and driven to push themselves, and this particular extra work took inspiration from an earlier guest speaker from Tufts University. What an awesome job by the student, and we can't wait to show you more!

Today's student slide art comes from a modified Pentachrome stain which utilizes 5 different complex stains to highlight different aspects of the tissue. A beautiful cut for a beautiful stain!! So much passion and dedication from these students. In just one week they will be done with classes and off to test their skills at their designated clinical sites. The countdown is on and we're so excited to see what they will accomplish!
