After last night’s update, we are now behind in the vote count. It’s a close race and there are still some ballots to process, but it’s not likely that there will be enough to change the outcome at this point. We will know more on Friday by 5pm. Thank you to all of you for your support! 💙💛

Maintained my lead after yesterday’s updated vote count! There won’t be any new updates until next Wednesday. Feeling optimistic that my lead will hold. Thank you again for all the support!

A huge thank you to everyone for the all the support in my reelection! Many of you have reached out to inquire about the results. I’m currently leading in the vote count, but there are still votes to be counted. According to the Madera County Elections Department, the in-person votes have been counted as well as most of the mail-in ballots. They are currently counting ballots that were postmarked on Election Day and the provisional ballots.

The next update is supposed to be released by 5:00 today. I’m hopeful that I can hold on to my lead and pull out the win! 💙💛

YUSD was awarded a grant to get 10 new electric buses! Yosemite Unified was one of only 21 districts out of the 125 who applied in California for this EPA grant. Way to go, YUSD!

We are excited to announce that the Yosemite Unified School District is a proud award winner of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's program! With this funding, we are able to purchase 10 new clean school buses for our students.

On Oct. 26, EPA announced the recipients of nearly $1 billion from the Clean School Bus program. These awards will fund new electric and low-emission buses for school districts in all 50 states to help improve air quality in and around our schools and community, reduce greenhouse gas pollution and better protect our students’ health.

In California, approximately 125 school districts applied for this grant and only 21 were selected, including our very own YUSD! A total of nearly 400 districts/bus companies were selected nationwide, totaling almost $1 billion for more than 2,400 buses.

I am asking for your vote for reelection to the Yosemite Unified School District Board to continue to serve our amazing schools and mountain community.

My commitment to this community runs very deep. I grew up in Coarsegold and attended Coarsegold Elementary and Yosemite High School. After graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a double major in History and Psychology, I earned my Master’s Degree in United States History from UCLA and taught middle school history and civics for several years before moving back to Coarsegold to start a family.

My experience as a YUSD Board Trustee, Rivergold PTA board member, parent volunteer at Rivergold, former middle school teacher, and youth soccer coach demonstrate my longstanding commitment to education and dedication to our incredible school community.

As a parent of three current YUSD students, (two at Rivergold and one at YHS), I see firsthand how the policies and programs I vote on as a trustee impact students and the school community. It also means that I am deeply committed to and personally impacted by the policies of the district and am a strong advocate for students. In fact, I am the only person currently on the YUSD board who has children in YUSD k-8 schools and the only candidate for school board who has children currently in YUSD schools.

The past several years have brought unprecedented challenges to our YUSD community, but I am confident we are back on a positive path:

-The YUSD Board of Trustees hired a new Superintendent, Brian Beck, who has brought a great deal of enthusiasm, experience, and steady leadership to YUSD.
-The Board of Trustees has helped support YUSD’s amazing staff as they’ve worked diligently and creatively to help students bridge gaps in academic achievement and address the social-emotional health of our students.
-We’ve increased intervention support for students, funding reading and behavior specialists at each school site in the district, as well as expanding the mental health services offered to students.
-We purchased new data assessment tools & hired a new Chief Academic Officer, Jarrod Bordhi, to bolster our commitment to academic achievement and improve the effectiveness of our curriculum and pedagogy.
-As a member of the Budget Advisory Committee, I am intimately familiar with the many funding challenges we face as a small rural district. Through careful management, I am proud to say that we approved an 8% pay increase for teachers, while stabilizing the district’s finances and enrollment.

I look forward to continuing to use my experience as a trustee and longstanding personal commitment to our community to guide the district as we strive to meet the needs of all our students.
