River Road Studios Our mission is to create, serve, heal, and inspire through the transformative power of Sound, Vibration, and Music.

Rooted along the Fresno River in the Sierra Foothills, we provide integrative therapeutic experiences through sound and music lessons. River Road Studios draws on the concept of IsIzWe which is the South African Zulu word for Tribe. It is in this spirit of community that we offer 30 years of Hands on Exploration, Presentation, Teaching, Performance, Improvisation, Innovation and Experiential Commu

nity Based Inter-generational Learning that draws on musical and visual arts based projects, multi-subject academic tutoring, as well as music and vibration therapy to emphasize and admirably incorporate natural curiosity, health, a sense of equality and social justice, and technology – our nomenclature for this process is: “musical and visual pathways of health, learning, support and emotional healing for all ages, abilities, and dispositions in an inter-generational context." With this in mind, River Road Studios exists to ignite playful improvisation, inspired intuition, creative curiosity, academic aspirations and inventive innovation. We encourage and derive a genuine sense of growth within the learning process, to hold a flexible, elegant, and strong container for personal evolution and community enrichment. Emphasizing spirited and respectful collaboration, we bring a depth of commitment to family, community, and creative expression to instill an awareness of humanity’s diversity, unique individuality, and common connection to the Earth. What Instrument Is This? — Wednesdays of Wonder:

Meet the Waterphone — a handcrafted, otherworldly instrument that sounds like the sea met a symphony. 🌊🎶

Invented and patented by Richard Waters in 1975, it’s built from a stainless-steel resonator bowl with a neck and an array of metal “tonal rods.”
Play it by striking or bowing the rods, or by letting water inside the bowl shift resonance — the result is haunting, ethereal soundscapes favored by film composers, experimental musicians, and sound therapists.
Design roots: inspired by the kalimba, nail violin, and Asian water drums. The rods are tuned in mixed relationships (even + uneven), giving its voice a uniquely uncanny shimmer.
How it makes sound: vibrating rods → amplified and colored by the water-filled resonator → complex, evolving tones that feel like movement and mystery.

River Road Studios is commencing our annual donation drive in support of River Road Studios’ Innovative Music, Tutoring, Orchestra, Storytelling, Gardening, Sound Therapy, Movement, Mindfulness, as well as our Cultural and Scholarship Programs.
Moreover, we are calling in any unused, unique, and cultural music instruments, as well as musical hardware and software donations to provide our students of all ages, abilities, demeanors, dispositions, ethnicities, and genders, an opportunity to practice and deepen into their self-directed learning.

Playfully and joyfully explore Music, History, Culture, Inspiration, Community and Learning during River Road Studios’ Open House this Sunday, September 4th.

Our Open House is from 9 to 7, and we encourage you to visit and adventure amidst the Art, History, Culture, and Instruments from around the globe, our Sound Therapy and Music Studios, as well as saunter through the gardens that radiate peace and color.

That said, if you or your family has an instrument that you would like to get up to playing speed, please bring it by, and we'll see what we can do to rekindle music in your family❤️
