A Message from the CA AfterSchool Network
Happy Lights on Afterschool!
Happy 2020
Today, over one million Americans will come together in more than 9,000 communities nationwide to celebrate afterschool programs that keep kids safe, inspire them to learn and help working families. This day provides us here at CAN an opportunity to offer our sincere gratitude for the work you do each and every day.
You have risen to meet the innumerable challenges 2020 has presented in order to support children, families, and communities. You are the reason for the theme of the recent Expanded Learning Summit, . You have given us so many reasons to celebrate you. One way we are celebrating you is by honoring emerging, inspirational, and visionary leaders in partnership with the California Department of Education’s Expanded Learning Division during today’s California Lights on Afterschool Virtual Celebration (join the live stream at 11 am!) Additionally, at 4 pm join us and CA3 as we hear from students, families, legislators, and other guests about the important role afterschool programs play in California and celebrate legislative champions.
