Brazoswood Vet Tech Barking Bucs

Our 2026–2027 Brazoswood Animal Science Practicum students have officially been placed at local veterinary clinics across Brazoria County to begin gaining hands-on experience and industry skills toward earning their Veterinary Assistant Certification.

We are extremely grateful for our partnership with Freeport Veterinary Medical Center and Wild Peach Veterinary Clinic for providing these students with the opportunity to complete their 300 internship hours and required skills through the Texas Veterinary Medical Association program.

BISD Board Approves District Calendars for 2026–27 & 2027–28
Both calendars remain unchanged from recent school years, with the exception of a change to end-of-semester half days. Instead of half days, students will now have full instructional days followed by teacher work days. Instructional minutes and overall school year structure remain the same. What an AMAZING evening at the Ogg Career Night! Jaycie, Svetlana, Isiah, & Tamaiyah spent the evening talking to Brazoria County youth about their interest, dissect our pig model, and create DNA strands! These are our FUTURE students!

We also got to bring along Luna & Lola to take some vitals!

We would like to spotlight our Brazoswood FFA Veterinary Medicine Team! This dedicated group has traveled across the state of Texas, competing in eight contests this season. Many of these competitions included over 100 teams, and our hardworking members have consistently placed in the top 50%, and often in the top 30%.

Their commitment is unmatched—early mornings (sometimes as early as 4:00 AM) and long days are the norm as they prepare, compete, and continue improving for the next contest. Their work ethic and determination truly set them apart.

Our next competition will be on April 18th at the Area 3 CDEs at Texas A&M University, where they will compete against the top teams in the area. Advancing to State in this contest is extremely competitive, but this team has put in countless hours of preparation. We are proud of their dedication and excited to see them perform—please wish them the best of luck!
