What DO astronauts eat in space?!? 👩‍🚀🥤🍽️‍ Join us for Science Café: Out of This World Appetites: Engineering the Food That Fuels Astronauts", on Friday, October 9 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM! Our speaker is food systems engineer Nani Arce-Allen, who worked for United Space Alliance, a major aerospace contracting form that heavily supports NASA operations.

In her role, Nani was responsible for engineering and developing food systems for astronauts. This type of aerospace role typically bridges the gap between culinary science, nutritional biochemistry and mechanical engineering. NASA food systems engineers and contractors ensure that astronaut meals meet strict parameters.

Join us at BASF Planetarium during the week of Fall Break for a 2-day, entry-level Basic Model Rocketry Workshop for students ages 9-14! On Wednesday & Thursday, October 14 & 15 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, students will build, launch and recover rockets that they will take home at the end of launch day.

Classes will meet in the planetarium classroom, with 10 available spaces. Registration is $50/student.

Join us TOMORROW (10/7) at 12:15 PM in the planetarium! Enjoy a FREE, guided meditation experience with the program “Sunset Meditation” on the FIRST Wednesday of the month. View an amazing sunset as you travel from the Grand Canyon to the North Pole. Then relax under a night sky filled with stars and glimpses of the Northern Lights.

This program is approximately 30 minutes. No RSVP is required.

“O, swear not by the moon, the fickle moon, the inconstant moon…” The works of William Shakespeare have many references to the night sky. In this show, we’ll decode the Bard’s words and see if his science matches up to what we see in the sky.
