🌊 Current Conditions as Tropical Storm Arthur Makes Its Way Along the Texas Coast 🌊

Surfside is taking a beating this morning. Water levels have risen all the way to the dunes in some areas, and large waves are pounding the beachfront and jetty. The photos show rough surf, elevated tides, significant wave action, and debris being pushed onto the beach as tropical conditions continue to impact the Upper Texas Coast.

⚠️ What we’re seeing:
Water reaching the dune line in several areas
Large, choppy waves with dangerous surf conditions
Heavy wave action at the Surfside Jetty
Beach erosion and debris washing ashore
Reduced visibility from rain and sea spray
Strong onshore winds continuing to push water inland

🚨 Travel Advisory:
Locally across Brazoria County, there have already been dozens of reports of street flooding. If you must travel, use extreme caution, never drive through flooded roadways, and allow extra time to reach your destination. Conditions can change rapidly as additional rain bands move through the area.

🌊 Beach & Jetty Safety:
Conditions remain extremely hazardous. The beach, jetties, and Gulf waters should be avoided due to strong currents, large waves, elevated water levels, and the risk of rogue waves.
Stay safe, stay weather aware, and if you don’t have to be on the roads or the beach today, it’s a good day to watch Mother Nature from a safe distance.

🌊 SURFSIDE BEACH UPDATE – TROPICAL WEATHER IMPACTS POSSIBLE 🌧️

Current conditions at Surfside this afternoon show light surf, onshore flow, and generally calm seas near the beach and jetties. While conditions may not appear severe right now, residents and visitors should be aware that tropical systems can rapidly change Gulf Coast conditions over the next 24-72 hours.

🌀 What to Expect from a Tropical System
Even if a storm does not make direct landfall in our area, impacts can begin well before the center arrives:

• Increasing rainfall rates and flooding concerns
• Dangerous rip currents and strong longshore currents
• Rising tides and minor coastal flooding in low-lying areas
• Gusty winds capable of producing localized power outages
• Reduced visibility on the water and hazardous boating conditions
• Beach erosion and changing sandbar structures

🌧️ Rainfall Concerns
Forecast models continue to indicate the potential for significant rainfall across portions of the Texas coast. Tropical systems often produce most of their flooding from rain rather than wind. Areas that have already received substantial rainfall may experience rapid ponding of water and localized street flooding.

🌊 Beach & Surf Safety
As tropical moisture and wind increase, surf conditions can deteriorate quickly. Rip currents become stronger and more frequent, even when wave heights appear manageable. Remember:
