This powerful and inspiring evening is dedicated to raising awareness and critical funds for su***de prevention, anti-bullying efforts, and domestic violence prevention. These deeply important issues affect countless individuals and families, and your support will help fund education, mental health services, and outreach programs that bring healing and hope to our community.
Why Your Support Matters:
Su***de: Su***de is the 11th leading cause of death in Texas, and rural communities like Bastrop County often face even higher risks due to isolation and limited access to mental health services.
Domestic Violence: According to the Texas Council on Family Violence, 1 in 3 Texans will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. In 2023 alone, over 230 Texans lost their lives to domestic violence. In rural areas like Bastrop and other surrounding Counties, there is a lack of nearby shelters, safe housing, and transportation options that leave many survivors with limited options.
Bullying: In 2023-2024, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) reported over 41,000 confirmed incidents of bullying statewide. Rural school districts continue to face ongoing challenges with bullying across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Studies show bullying significantly increases the risk of depression, su***de, and school dropout.
