Here’s why 👇
Every day, we meet people who are thinking about law school but haven’t taken the first step yet.
Not because they’re not capable.
Because they’re wondering if it’s the right time.
If they’re too busy.
If they’re too old.
If they can really do it.
And with everything happening in the world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.
You see injustice.
You see people who need advocates.
You see problems that need solutions.
And maybe part of you has wondered what you could do to help.
Here’s the thing: the legal profession needs people who care. ⚖️
It needs people who understand their communities.
People who’ve overcome challenges.
People who know what it’s like to work hard for every opportunity.
People who are willing to stand up, speak up, and make a difference.
So if you’ve been thinking about law school, the first step isn’t having everything figured out. It’s deciding you’re worth the investment. 💙
Join us for ✨Law School 101 this Wednesday, June 24 at 6pm✨ You’ll meet current SJCL students who once had the same questions you’re asking now. You’ll hear what law school is really like, learn about the admissions process, and get honest answers about what it takes to succeed.
You don’t need to have your entire future figured out tomorrow. You just need to take that first step. 👟
San Joaquin College of Law
A COBE & WASC-accredited law school located midway between LA & San Francisco. Since that time, SJCL graduates have distinguished themselves professionally.
SJCL is the only accredited law school in a 100-mile radius and our graduates go on to pursue a variety of leadership positions locally, nationally and internationally. San Joaquin College of Law (SJCL) was founded in 1969 by a visionary group of San Joaquin Valley judges and attorneys who believed that capable individuals were being denied a quality legal education. Among their alumni ranks are f

Happy Father's Day to all the dads who show up, keep going, and lead by example every day. 💙
Dads like Angel Reyes, who graduated from SJCL last month and earned his JD while balancing one of the most important roles he'll ever have: being a father.
Because one of the greatest lessons children learn isn't from what we tell them—it's from what they watch us do.
They watch us work toward our goals.
They watch us push through challenges.
They watch us keep going when things get difficult.
That's exactly what makes this accomplishment so meaningful. 🎓
Law school asks a lot of the people who pursue it. It requires years of sacrifice, dedication, and a commitment to keep moving forward even when the finish line feels far away.
Last month, Angel crossed that finish line. ⚖️
And as he celebrates earning his JD, he's also showing his son something invaluable: that big goals are worth pursuing, hard work pays off, and it's never a mistake to invest in your future. ✨
The degree is an incredible accomplishment. But the example he's setting is an even greater legacy.
Congratulations, Angel, on this well-deserved achievement. We're proud of you, proud of all you've accomplished, and excited to see the impact you'll make in the legal profession and beyond.
Happy Father's Day to you and all the fathers celebrating today! 💫

If you've ever thought...
"I didn't grow up around lawyers."
"I can't change careers this late."
"I have too many responsibilities right now."
"People like me don't become attorneys."
You're not alone. 💙
The truth is the legal profession has never been changed by people who all had the same story.
It's been shaped by people who brought different experiences, different perspectives, and different reasons for wanting to make a difference. ⚖️
People from working-class families.
People who were the first in their family to go to college or law school.
People balancing full-time jobs, raising children, caring for loved ones, and chasing goals that felt bigger than their circumstances.
People who didn't see themselves represented in the profession on tv or in movies—but showed up anyway.
And because they did, the legal field became stronger. More representative. More understanding. More connected to the communities it serves.
That's why your background isn't something you have to overcome first. It's part of what makes your voice so valuable. 🔑
So if you've been wondering whether law school is the right next step for you, come hear from students who had many of the same questions, doubts, and fears.
Register for our free ✨Law School 101 on Wednesday, June 24 at 6pm✨ where you'll meet current SJCL students, hear their stories, get your questions answered, and see what law school is really like from the people living it every day. 🔗
Because the legal field doesn't need more people with the exact same story. It needs people willing to bring their own. 💫
Let’s clear this up 👇
One of the biggest reasons some people never apply to law school?
They’re convinced it’s going to be a toxic, cutthroat environment where everyone competes against each other for the best grades. 🥴
SJCL Admissions Counselor, Darius Ibarra, hears this concern from students all the time.
And honestly? We understand where it comes from.
Movies, TV shows, and stories from other law schools have created the idea that law school is a place where students keep notes to themselves, avoid helping each other, and view their classmates as the competition. 👎
For some future students, that’s enough to make them question whether law school is even worth it.
But here’s what many people don’t realize is:
Not every law school operates that way. ⚖️
At SJCL, our students are graded to a standard—not on a curve.
That means your success isn’t dependent on someone else’s failure. 🎯
Instead of competing against each other, our students are encouraged to do something much more valuable: learn together.
They form study groups.
Share ideas.
Support each other through tough classes.
And build friendships that last long after graduation.
Because the reality is that law school is challenging enough on its own. You shouldn’t have to go through it feeling like everyone around you is rooting against you.
One of the things we hear most often from students and alumni is how supportive the SJCL community feels. 💙
Small class sizes mean professors know who you are.
Professors are accessible when you need guidance.
And your classmates are some of your biggest supporters throughout the journey.
📌So if you want to see what that actually looks like at SJCJ, join us for ✨Law School 101 on Wednesday, June 24 at 6pm.✨
You’ll meet our current SJCL students, hear about their experiences firsthand, and get honest answers to the questions you’ve had about law school.
If you’ve been avoiding law school because you’re worried it will be nothing but competition, come see for yourself that there is a better way. 🫶

One of the best things you can do in law school isn't found in a textbook. ⚖️
It's building relationships.
Last month, our Student Bar Association (SBA) Board members, Navpreet Dhillon and Nancy Diaz, attended the Fresno County Women Lawyers Judicial Reception honoring the Honorable Melissa Baloian. It was an opportunity to connect with attorneys, judges, and legal leaders who are helping shape the future of the profession right here in the Central Valley. ✨
We love seeing our students seize opportunities like these because law school is about more than earning a degree. It's about becoming part of the legal community.
It's meeting the attorneys who can become your mentors.
The judges who inspire your career path.
The colleagues you'll one day work with.
And the relationships that can open doors throughout your career. 💙
One of the unique advantages of attending SJCL is the strength of our local legal network. More than 30% of practicing attorneys in the Fresno-Clovis area are SJCL graduates. And nearly 44% of the women attorneys in our area are SJCL alumni, along with more than 37% of minority attorneys.
That means when our students attend events like this, they're not just introducing themselves to the legal community—they're connecting with a network of professionals who understand their journey and are invested in the next generation of lawyers.
It goes to show the relationships you build in law school can be just as important as the lessons you learn in the classroom. 💫

Think law school isn't possible because of your schedule? ⚖️
You're not alone.
Many future lawyers assume they have to quit their job, move cities, or completely rearrange their lives before they can get their law degree.
But for many students, that's just not realistic.
That's exactly why we offer an Online JD Program designed for working professionals, parents, caregivers, career changers, and anyone who needs more flexibility while pursuing their goals.
Because becoming a lawyer shouldn't require putting your entire life on hold. ✨
➡️SWIPE to learn how our Online JD Program works, who it's designed for, and why more students are choosing a path that lets them to earn their law degree without sacrificing everything else they've worked so hard to build.
Future lawyers need to hear this 👇
You don’t have to be the student with the highest grades.
You don’t have to have law school all figured out.
And you don’t have to feel confident every step of the way to succeed. ⚖️
Today, we’re celebrating Thalia Enriquez (JD ’25), who was officially sworn in as an attorney last month after passing the California Bar Exam. 🎉
What makes her story so powerful is that law school didn’t come easily to her.
There were moments when she struggled, moments when she questioned how she would make it to the finish line, and moments when simply showing up felt like an accomplishment.
But she kept showing up anyway.
She trusted herself.
She trusted the process.
She never stopped believing that she was meant to do this.
And when things got tough, she leaned on the support of her family, friends, classmates, professors, and mentors who helped carry her through the hardest days. 💙
That’s what resilience looks like. ✨
Her journey wasn’t perfect, but she refused to quit on herself.
And today, she’s joined a legal profession where Latinas still make up only about 3% of attorneys nationwide. ⚖️
That’s why moments like this matter.
Representation matters. Stories like 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐄𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐳, 𝐄𝐬𝐪.’s matter. Because somewhere, there’s a future law student wondering if they’re smart enough, capable enough, or whether they even belong in this profession.
And the answer is yes.
Congratulations, Thalia. We’re so proud of everything you’ve overcome to get here, and we can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make as an attorney, advocate, and role model for the next generation. 💫

From SJCL law clerk to Chief Deputy District Attorney. ⚖️
Congratulations to SJCL alumni, Kendall T. Reynolds (JD ’12), on his recent promotion within the Fresno County District Attorney's Office.
In his new role, Kendall will oversee the Misdemeanor Unit while helping mentor, train, and develop many of the office’s newest prosecutors—a responsibility that speaks not only to his experience, but also to the trust and respect he's earned throughout his career. 💙
While he was in law school, Kendall worked as a law clerk in the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office before being sworn in as a Deputy District Attorney. Over the years, he's served in many assignments, prosecuted complex violent crime cases, worked in homicide, domestic violence, and violent crime units, and even served as a Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA before returning to the DA’s Office.
And his impact has extended far beyond the courtroom.
Kendall's become a recognized leader in California’s fentanyl investigation and prosecution efforts as well, helping lead Fresno County’s first fentanyl overdose death homicide prosecution and contributing to a framework that's influenced similar cases throughout California.
Last year, he was also recognized as the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office 2025 Prosecutor of the Year—a testament to his leadership, dedication, and commitment to justice. 🏆
But one of the most important parts of this next chapter is the opportunity to invest in others. As he helps mentor and develop the next generation of prosecutors, Kendall is continuing a tradition that strengthens both the legal profession and our community.
Congratulations on this well-deserved promotion Kendall. We're proud to call you an SJCL grad and grateful for your continued commitment to public safety in the Central Valley. 👏
We hear this question a lot 👇
And usually, it’s not really about age. It’s more about fear.
Fear that you missed your window.
Fear that everyone else started earlier.
Fear that life took longer than expected.
Fear that you’re behind.
But the real question is: behind who? 🤔
Because the truth is, many people asking this question are comparing their timeline to people who’ve lived completely different lives than they did.
Different responsibilities.
Different opportunities.
Different support systems.
Different resources.
Different setbacks.
Different starting points.
The difference? Your path wasn’t supposed to look like theirs.
Maybe while someone else was in school, you were raising children.
Maybe you were working full-time.
Maybe you were caregiving for family.
Maybe you were rebuilding your life after some hard seasons.
Maybe you were becoming the version of yourself that’s finally ready now. 💙
You’re going to be 35, 40, 50, or beyond regardless. The real question is:
Do you want to reach that age with a law degree…or still wondering “what if?” ✨
Some of our most successful students started later, came from other careers, or thought the opportunity had passed them by. It hadn’t. ⚖️
Ready to take your first step? 👟
Join us for our ✨Law School 101 on Wednesday, June 24 at 6pm✨ to hear from students who once had the same doubts, fears, and questions. You’ll meet people who started later, changed directions, bet on themselves, and made it happen.
B/c we need more lawyers like YOU 🫵
For many future lawyers, their path to law school starts with one question: “What if I could actually do something about it?” 💭
Maybe you’ve experienced injustice firsthand.
Maybe you’ve watched decisions being made that don’t reflect your community.
Maybe you’ve seen what’s happening in the world and thought someone needs to speak up.
The truth is, our communities need more attorneys who understand the challenges they’re facing because they’ve lived them.⚖️
We need more voices in the rooms where decisions are made.
💠In our courtrooms challenging unjust systems.
💠In Congress drafting policies that better reflect the people they serve.
💠In boardrooms where laws, business, and advocacy come together.
That’s why we’re passionate about creating a supportive, student-centered culture at San Joaquin College of Law.
Because becoming a lawyer isn’t just about learning the law. It’s about finding the confidence, support, and community to use your voice when it matters most. 🔑
One of the things our Admissions Director, Diane Steel, hears most often from students is that they’re intimidated by the idea of law school. They think it’ll be hyper-competitive, they’ll get lost in the crowd, or that asking for help means they’re falling behind.
But that’s not the culture we’ve built.
Our students are graded to a standard—not on a curve—to encourage collaboration between students and allow classmates to genuinely support each another, learn together, and more.
And our smaller classes means professors know will know you by name, be available when any questions come up, and are invested in helping you succeed.
So if you’re thinking law school could be part of your future, register for our ✨Law School 101 on Wednesday, June 24.✨
You’ll meet current students who had the same questions, thoughts, and doubts you’re having now, get your questions answered, and see what law school is really like. 🔗
