Residents in the heart of Clovis now have a newly improved and expanded path to walk, run, and recreate – the Letterman Trail – made possible by federal grant funding and a partnership between the City of Clovis and the Fresno Irrigation District (FID). Named in honor of fallen Clovis firefighter Clinton J. Letterman, the Letterman Trail is just over half a mile long and runs between Barstow and Villa Avenues along the FID Big Dry Creek Canal and through Letterman Park. To mark the occasion, we're inviting community members to join us for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 8:30 AM along the new trail at the site of a beautiful new gateway near the northwest corner of Letterman Park. The event will include a special ribbon-cutting program featuring remarks from project partners, a memorial presentation by the Clovis Fire Department in remembrance of Fireman Letterman, and an opportunity to explore the new trail.

Packed with games, sports gear, arts and crafts, and other fun activities, this free program brings recreation directly to your local park and offers a safe environment for children to have fun.

Kids of all ages are invited to stop by, play, and enjoy guided activities led by our friendly recreation staff. No registration needed – just show up and have fun! We hope to see you there!

Save the date! Join us at 8:30am on Friday, September 11th for the annual California 9/11 Memorial Remembrance Ceremony. This year our guest speaker is Mr. Andy Isolano. Andy is a former New York City firefighter who can be counted among the brave heroes who answered the call on September 11. This event is free to attend and open to the public. In honor of America 250 and remembrance of 9/11, the City of Clovis is set to light the Old Town Clovis Water Tower in red, white, and blue this September 11th. To mark the occasion, we invite the community to join us for a special lighting ceremony, held in partnership with the Clovis Veterans Memorial District.

The Old Town Clovis Water Tower Lighting Ceremony will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 8:00 PM in the park on the northwest corner of 5th Street and Veterans Parkway, where there is a clear view of the tower. The city-hosted ceremony is also part of a larger 9/11 event taking place that evening, hosted by the Clovis Veterans Memorial District, and will take place concurrently with the Old Town Clovis Friday Farmers Market, which will have a special theme of its own that evening – “Never Forget”.

The Old Town Clovis Water Tower is currently lit in white, and the new lights will add both red and blue. Following the ceremony, the tower will remain lit in the colors of our country through the end of the year.

We hope you'll join us and be part of the community countdown as we light the tower in red, white, and blue for the first time.
