Meet Cameron DeLaere, DO, graduate of the CHSU-COM Class of 2026 and proud representative of the Central Valley!

Born and raised in Clovis, California, Dr. DeLaere has spent his educational journey in the Central Valley, giving him a firsthand understanding of the healthcare needs and challenges facing local communities. Through meaningful experiences both in and outside the classroom, he developed a passion for serving the region he has always called home.

Known for his spirit and academic excellence, Dr. DeLaere made a lasting impact on the CHSU community. Inspired by his clinical rotations during his third year of medical school, he discovered a passion for anesthesiology and will continue his training as an Anesthesiology Resident at UC Davis Medical Center.

2026 CHSU Grad Stories: Sibongile Makatini, DO

Meet Sibongile Makatini, DO, graduate of the CHSU-COM Class of 2026 and future OB/GYN Resident Physician at UCSF Fresno!

As a first-generation medical student, Dr. Makatini's journey is a testament to resilience and the power of community. Throughout her time at CHSU, she embraced opportunities like representing CHSU through its SOMA student chapter to building meaningful connections with faculty, mentors, and classmates. Her story reflects the strength of the CHSU community and the impact of lifting one another up along the way.

This summer, Dr. Makatini will begin her OB/GYN residency at UCSF Fresno, choosing to remain in the Central Valley to care for the local communities. We are proud to see another compassionate and dedicated CHSU graduate continue her journey of service in the Central Valley!

2026 CHSU Grad Stories: Taran Singh Chahil, MS

Meet Taran Singh Chahil, MS, graduate of the CHSU-CBHP Class of 2026 and future member of the CHSU-COM Class of 2030!

Born and raised in the Central Valley, Taran’s connection to his community and family ties to medicine inspired his passion for healthcare from an early age. Determined to build a strong foundation before medical school, he pursued CHSU’s Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MSBS) program and qualified for the Guaranteed Interview Program.

During his time at CHSU, Taran grew academically and professionally, while preparing for the next chapter of his journey in medicine. As he continues on to CHSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, we are excited to see the impact he will make on the future of healthcare.
