Alright alright, listen lindas šŸ˜‚

Most recently, I was discussing with someone (and I honestly can’t even remember who!) about the best ways to advertise and grow a business. And the biggest thing that kept coming up was social media.

So then I got to thinking… what actually makes someone look at a training program and think, ā€œWow, I want my horse to go there.ā€

We started talking about before-and-after videos, progress updates, riding videos, training clips and all the things that make you actually SEE what a trainer does.

And then I looked at my own page…

One video.
NOTHIN’.
Another video here and there. šŸ˜‚

So let me be real with y’all.

I am NOT a technological queen. Editing videos takes me hours. Remembering to set my phone up is an act of God. And finding the time to sit down and edit everything just doesn’t happen often.

I probably have 15 videos sitting on my phone from this month alone that I fully intended to post.

And I’m just not finding the time to mess with them.

And honestly? I’d rather spend that time working your horse.

I take a small handful of training horses each month specifically so they get the time, attention and consistency their owners are paying me for.

And I have been SO incredibly blessed to be booked completely full every single month this year. 🄹

What makes that even more special is that most of the horses I’ve had come through this year have been return customers bringing me their next horse.

Someone trusted me with one horse, liked what we did enough to come back and trust me with another.

That means a whole lot more to me than a perfectly edited Facebook video ever could.

But here’s where I’m going to get on my soap box for a minute. šŸ˜‚

Some of y’all have asked how often I ride your horses, and allllll of us will tell you 5–6 days a week.

And I’m sure there are plenty of trainers who absolutely do that.

But from what I’ve seen behind the scenes working with or for other trainers, when someone is taking on 6, 10, 20 horses… they sure aren’t all getting worked 5–6 days a week.

Sometimes it’s more like 3 or 4.

At HPH, when you’re paying me to train your horse, you get the time you’re paying for.

And you get videos, updates, pictures, progress reports AND a FREE weekly lesson.

Because I want you to know what’s happening with your horse.

But if you’re looking at HPH and thinking, ā€œI really like what they do, but I just don’t see enough videosā€¦ā€

COME SEE FOR YOURSELF.

Come watch us work horses.

Bring your horse in for an evaluation.

Schedule a consultation.

Take a lesson.

Ask questions.

See the facility.

Or let us come to you for an evaluation — and if you move forward with a training package, that evaluation is FREE.

I want you to see it in REAL TIME.

No editing cuts when s**t hits the fan.

No cutting out me getting ran over by Fluffy, the ā€œgrandma-safeā€ horse. šŸ˜‚

No dialing in on the horse that tried to buck me off four seconds ago and then happened to give me four pretty strides of lope.

Real horses. Real training. Real time.

Because any trainer on this entire Facebook platform can put together a 2-minute video of a nice lope, stop, obstacle course, trail ride, loading, tying, kids riding, jumping or whatever your heart desires.

But you don’t get to see the moments they don’t want you to see.

And honestly, sometimes I just want to go back to 1990.

You found a trainer.

You went and met them.

You shook their hand.

You watched them work.

You asked questions.

And THEN you decided if you trusted them with your horse.

I have references. Plenty of them. And I’m happy to give you all the references you could ever want.

But at the end of the day, that doesn’t really matter, does it?

Because what matters is YOUR opinion when it’s YOUR money and YOUR horse.

We know money doesn’t grow on trees. We respect that you are making an investment when you send your horse to us, and we don’t take that lightly.

So if you’ve been considering Harris Performance Horses but you’re hesitant because you don’t see a ton of video proof on Facebook…

Come see it with your own eyes.

Watch us work.

Bring your horse.

Ask questions.

See the good, the bad and the ugly.

I don’t want you to choose HPH because I made a really good 2-minute highlight reel.

I want you to choose HPH because you came here, saw what we do, and walked away thinking:

ā€œYep. This is where I want my horse.ā€

Anyway… I’ll jump off my soap box now. šŸ˜‚

You get what you pay for with us. And we intend to make damn sure you get it. šŸ–¤

ā¤ļø We have so much to celebrate at Harris Performance Horses! ā¤ļø

This summer has reminded me exactly why I love what I do.

After taking a step back from lessons, rebuilding our program has been one of the most rewarding experiences. We’ve spent our days playing water games, making memories, building confidence, and watching kids fall in love with horses. Seeing familiar faces return while welcoming so many new ones has truly filled my heart.

Our training program has been just as exciting. We’ve had some incredible horses come through our barn, and there’s nothing better than watching them head home more confident, more educated, and ready for their next chapter with happy owners.

Every horse and every rider that comes through our gates becomes part of our HPH family, and I’m so thankful for every one of you who has supported us.

✨ And here’s something I’ve been so excited to share…

I’m officially offering Groundwork Lessons!

Not everyone wants to ride—and that’s okay.

Maybe you’re building confidence after a fall. Maybe your horse needs a stronger foundation. Maybe you simply want to understand your horse better and build a relationship based on trust instead of force.

These 45-minute sessions are designed to help horse and human communicate better, creating confidence on the ground that carries into every part of your partnership.

🐓 $50 with one of my horses
🐓 $50 + travel fee (if you’re more than 30 minutes away) using your horse

Sometimes the most meaningful progress doesn’t happen in the saddle—it starts with understanding each other on the ground.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with your horses, your children, and your support over the years. Watching HPH grow again has been such a blessing, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year has in store.

ā¤ļø If you know someone looking for lessons or training, we’d be so grateful if you’d share this post or tag them in the comments. Word of mouth has always been the biggest blessing to our small business!

Teaching…

For the longest time, I swore I hated teaching. I said I never wanted HPH to become a lesson barn. What I’ve learned is that sometimes perspectives change.

What I hated wasn’t teaching itself. I hated seeing a lack of work ethic, a lack of horsemanship, riders’ wants being put before horses’ needs, unfair riding techniques, and horses that weren’t physically or mentally prepared being forced to do ā€œtheir job.ā€ The list goes on and on.

What I realized is that it doesn’t have to be that way.

At HPH, we’re building a community of riders who learn the value of hard work, who put their horses first, who understand proper feeding and care, and who learn to ride fairly and communicate clearly. We’re not just teaching people how to ride, we’re helping develop real horsemen and horsewomen, the next generation of cowboys and cowgirls.

Every once in a while, when I see students elsewhere trotting within a few rides or loping within a few months, I have to remind myself that our goal isn’t speed. Our goal is building a solid foundation. We focus on doing things correctly, even when it takes longer.

Because the lessons learned here aren’t just about horses. They’re about patience, responsibility, consistency, empathy, and work ethic, skills that will stay with our students long after they leave the barn.

And if we’re lucky, along the way they’ll develop the same deep respect and love for horses that brought us all here in the first place.
