June 9, 2026- 4th Annual EdFest – STREAM: Where Curiosity Flows ✨🦦
FDLTCC’s Elementary & Child Development Programs hosted another “Ottery Amazing” Ed Fest, bringing together educators, students, and community partners to celebrate Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art, and Math (STREAM) through a culturally grounded lens.
We began our day with Opening & Prayer, led by Jeff Tibbetts, Miigwech for your guidance and knowledge of our Anishinaabe wisdom and ways that helps us drive our programs.
Our keynote speaker, Mishtadim RunningHorse Livingston, inspired participants by reframing STREAM through an Anishinaabe perspective, reminding us that these fields are not new—but are deeply rooted in Indigenous knowledge systems, innovation, and ways of knowing.
Participants engaged in dynamic breakout sessions, including:
🎨 Woodland Style Art: Norval Morrisseau Study with Karen Savage Blue
⛺ Wigwametry: Engineering Design through Anishinaabe Architecture with Mishtadim RunningHorse Livingston
🍂 Early Learning: Indigenized Seasonal Lessons for Early Childhood with Shana Aubid
🌊 S’not Your Average Problem: Exploring Rock Snot & Aquatic Invaders with Heidi Ojibway
💻 Creating & Coding Jingle Dress Dancer Dolls with Ryan Lindsay & Iron Mosquitos FRC Team 5653
Nature Walk and Stepping Stones with Alyxis Feltus and Cathy Podeswa
Chi-miigwech (big thank you) to our incredible vendors and partners: Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota Department of Education – American Indian Education, Nashke Games, GLIFWC, MMIR advocates, and Tell It to the Trees. We also extend our appreciation to Chef’s Marketplace for the wonderful catering.
To everyone who attended and shared feedback—miigwech for helping us continue to grow and strengthen EdFest. And to our FDLTCC Education Team—great work! Everything came together in truly otterly amazing fashion 🦦💙
We can’t wait to see you at next year’s EdFest!
