🦋 A big send-off for some tiny travelers!
On Friday, our first graders, along with their teachers, released 12 butterflies in their final release of the year. This fall, they’ve raised and released almost 60 butterflies from caterpillars!
Led by Mrs. Roegiers, our young researchers have been busy learning what butterflies eat, finding milkweed for the caterpillars to munch on, watching helping tag the butterflies, and researching their migration patterns to Mexico. 🌎 Along the way, they watched the caterpillars form chrysalises and emerge as beautiful butterflies!
From caring for caterpillars to watching butterflies take flight, our Shuler students experienced how curiosity, research, and care can help us learn about the natural world. What a memorable way to bring science to life! 🦋🐛
