Principals of an Assault/CQB is Surprise, Speed and Violence of action, in that order because that’s the order you lose them and then have to use the next one as leverage.

Surprise can be gained in many ways, it starts in the planning phase, are we walking from a distance to maintain stealth? Do we have a pattern of life so we don’t have to go to a bad guys house and instead conduct an open air take down or Vehicle Interdiction? Once we knock and announce can we regain surprise by moving faster than the enemy thinks is possible to be on top of them before they can prepare a fight?

You can gain surprise by going fast or slow you just need to know what your specific technique gains and loses when applied and that’s when these principals and your team principals come into play.

Fun weekend competing at the Tactical Games with kale Jackson we use to laugh at how it seemed like everyone knew everyone at our first one but now when we go we end up talking to people from other competitions and meeting new people at every stage.

Definitely stresses a different type of skill set than something like USPSA so I encourage people to try them out, we also dragged Jeremiah D. Heidle along too. We look forward to trying to defend our title in the Spring!

I’m a massive proponent these days that if you carry a gun for a living or you CCW you should be doing shooting competitions, I don’t care if it’s tactical games, USPSA, PCSL, Steel Challenge or whatever other acronym someone comes up with, they all test something different and just do one or two every 6 months or one in the Fall and one in Spring at least. There is no better way to test what you train and induce actual stress than having to perform to a standard in front of people for a competition. There is also no better motivation than going against other people.

It doesn’t matter if you come in 1st, last or somewhere between just get out there and test the skills that could someday save your life. Most the time the people I see talk down about competing are the ones who don’t actually train and just put “2A for life” “Come and Take Them” stickers on their cars.

Thrive for greatness and train to win.

Give it up to Victor Black and Kale Jackson for taking home 1st place at the tactical games!!!

So we made a decision, well I made a decision and forced him lol. Victor Black has been "promoted*" to be our Lead Law Enforcement Liaison For Equilateral Advising. He will now lead almost all of our Law enforcement training, and more importantly he will temper Bela so he doesn't scare everyone off! Lol
