Shaw Dance originated more than 30 years ago in my garage in Roy, as I fulfilled a life-long dream to open a dance studio. I opened in the spring of ’91, and the dream continues even now with a staff of 18 and over 5000 square feet of space in the Sunset Square Shopping Center in Sunset, Utah. Shaw Dance Studio began as a dance studio, of course, but in 2006, we began a full-curriculum academic pr

While the only required license to teach dance in Utah is a business license, my education goes far beyond that. I have a Bachelor of Science in Dance and English Education from Utah State University, was a USU Aggiette, member of USU’s modern dance company and recipient of college dance scholarships. I coached Clearfield High Drill team for 16 years, lead the team to five national championships and first runner-up to the 4A state championship, won Utah Drill Team Coach of the year twice, and was the Western United States Coach of the Year in 2005. I have been named to America Onstage’s Director’s Hall of Fame, and have been their Director of the Year every year since 2003. My studio has won Sweepstakes awards at Utah Dance Fest, Rocky Mountain Dance Championships, Dance America Nationals, Extreme Danzz Championships, America Onstage Nationals, and has won top awards at Hollywood Vibe Dance Conventions/Competitions. Our competitive teams always rank quite high in the competitive arena. Our preschool prides itself on truly helping each student reach Kindergarten readiness. Our school features daily instruction in letter and number recognition, sounds, colors, shapes, story time, physical education, art, science exploration, computers, and singing. Our student/teacher ratio is quite low, and we present two programs per year. Shaw Dance Studio is different because we are like a family. We care about the success of every student, whether he/she is enrolled in one of our beginning dance classes, or whether that dancer might be a pre-professional dancer. We offer classes for all ages and levels, and our goal is to provide our dancers with a real dance education based on the foundation of dance technique in many different disciplines. My studio is staffed with mature, highly-educated teachers, with education in dance and a variety of other disciplines. My staff prides itself on maintaining the excellent reputation we have, while remaining cutting-edge in style and choreography. Our mission at Shaw Preschool is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where skills are taught, creativity is encouraged, friends are made, personal discipline is instilled, and learning and fun take place each day. Our goal is for our students to acquire the skills necessary to make a smooth transition into Kindergarten and elementary school with the skills necessary to succeed.
