Last Friday, players gathered for the third annual Wolfpack Rally, an event focused on fellowship and team bonding.

This year, players dove into what it looks like to be called out and set apart as athletes living for Christ. People can generally tell that they play soccer by the gear they have, their priorities and schedule, and how fast or strong they are! But - can people tell that they are Christ Followers just as easily? What does it look like to be "Called Out & Set Apart" as Athletes who love Christ? Maybe it's their effort, their attitude, their language, and their love for others. Our challenge for them (and ourselves) over this next season is to look differently, talk differently, play differently, and live differently, all for the glory of God. Can we embrace being Called Out & Set Apart for Him? We will certainly try!

Several of our Wolf Pups joined their fellow Lady Wolves this past week at Anderson County Lady Mavs Camp. They all had a great time! Big thanks to Coach Chris for inviting two of our Coaches to join in as well!

We’ve never officially introduced y’all to our wolf pack leaders (coaching staff)! This week, we start with Coach Josh Swift.

Josh is our dedicated Goalkeeper Coach. In addition to assisting our 2010-12G to a first-place position in Tennessee State League this past spring and our U17G team next spring, Josh dedicates time each week to training our goalkeepers.

Josh has played soccer since he was eight years old and was a multi-sport athlete in high school (football, wrestling, and soccer). At the collegiate level, Josh played for Georgia Southwestern State University (NCAA Division II). During his tenure, he played in 45 games and spent two seasons with the Georgia Revolution FC (NPSL semi-pro). In addition to leading ETFC’s goalkeeper efforts, Josh works for Pilot and attends Basswood Church in Powell, TN.

Coach Swift expressed, “I am incredibly grateful that my first experience of coaching has been with ETFC. The training philosophy and faith grounding are incredibly rare in the American soccer ecosystem and something I wish I had in my soccer development.”

Reminder to club players: Our summer technical training starts next week on Monday, June 22nd. This is a great opportunity to stay sharp through the summer months. In fact, we recently did the math, and depending on level, a player will get 2,500 - 5,000 touches in a single session!! 🤯🔥🔥💪

These sessions support and develop proficient technical ability. At ETFC, we seek to perfect skills - there is a good, better, and best way to perform skills. In order for the skill to be properly cemented in our subconscious, it must be correct first.

Repetition leads to rhythm, and consistency leads to confidence.

We want to welcome Donnie Green to the Wolf Pack! Donnie comes to ETFC with a servant heart. While his resume speaks for itself, Donnie chose ETFC because he desires to grow the Kingdom of God and point young players to Christ. Additionally, we share similar perspectives on individual-player development, and possession-oriented soccer.

Donnie will be coaching our U10 Girls’ Team. He is the current Head Coach of Roane State’s Women’s Soccer Team. Prior to this, he was the Head Coach at Oak Ridge High School, Grace Christian Academy, and served in a similar capacity at local clubs.

We are looking forward to working with, and learning from, Coach Donnie!

Repetition is necessary in order to master a skill...period.

What most don't understand is that hundreds of thousands (and sometimes millions) of repetitions are required in order for a skill to be perfected. Research proves this - continuous repetitions of certain components in training indicate to our brain that those movements are important, and the brain responds by adapting to a higher quality and more efficient performance.

Real development happens at the fundamental level. It's not always glamorous, it probably doesn't look good on social media, but it's absolutely necessary to meet the genetic potential.
