Last but certainly not least, meet Smoky! Smoky is our Director of Employee Morale at JAET. His main job is keeping the team happy, providing plenty of entertainment, and making sure everyone gets a much-needed break for some puppy love. He takes his role very seriously!

When he's not busy keeping morale high, Smoky loves to sleep, sunbathe, chase chipmunks, play with squeaky toys, go on car rides and hikes, and come to work with the JA team. He also enjoys floating down the river and watching the fish.

We're so lucky to have Smoky around the office bringing plenty of pawsitive energy to the JAET team!

Meet Emily, our Community Outreach and Marketing Manager for the JAET Tri-Cities office!

Emily wears a lot of hats here at JA! She helps bring programs and events to life by coordinating Career Connections, supporting BizTown Pop-Up, recruiting volunteers for JA programs, and managing our in-class programming throughout the Tri-Cities. She also helps tell the JA story through social media and marketing, sharing the impact JA has on students, educators, volunteers, and the community.

Outside of work, Emily is a proud pet mom to two cats and a frog! She also loves giving back by volunteering at the Humane Society, where she walks dogs and helps them on their journey to finding their forever homes. She also volunteers at a local stable, where she helps take care of the horses.

In everything Emily does, she looks for ways to serve others with passion, whether it’s supporting students and the community through JA or caring for animals in her free time.

Meet Fredrik, who works to build and manage partnerships across the Tri-Cities, connecting businesses, community leaders, and schools with Junior Achievement programs and helping bring events like BizTown Pop-Up to life!

Originally from Sweden, Fredrik and his wife chose to make the Tri-Cities their home and became U.S. citizens last year. Their daughter is now studying digital media at ETSU! Fredrik says one of the things he loves most about this area is the people, when someone asks how you are, they genuinely want to know the answer.

Outside of work, Fredrik is an entrepreneur at heart, always curious, a self-proclaimed foodie who reads too much, and someone who trains most days (and promises it’s not a midlife crisis). He’s also probably the biggest dog lover you’ll ever meet without actually having a dog… at least until later this fall!

Meet Paula, one of the amazing team members who helps make JA BizTown an unforgettable experience for our students! Paula works behind the scenes to make sure everything in BizTown runs smoothly so every student has the best day ever! She keeps all the essentials organized, from paperwork and debit cards to supplies, and loves creating a fun, engaging environment for students. Her favorite part of the day is interacting with the kids and joining in on the famous BizTown dance parties!

When she's not at JA, Paula enjoys spending time on her farm with her husband and two sons. Together they care for cows, chickens, a dog, and a cat, and they even raise their own meat chickens. She also has a beautiful garden and loves canning the food she grows in her free time!
