Dear Star Maker Families,

I am sure most of you know by now that one of our own, Sophia DeTorres, succumbed to injuries from a tragic car accident on August 22, 2024 on her way to the first day of school.

Her parents have asked that I reach out to as many of our former students and their families that I can, to share that there will be a vigil at North Hunterdon's Football Field tomorrow, Thursday, August 29th from 8:30-9:30PM.

Lila P. and Cassie S. will be speaking and will act as representatives of Sophia's 11 years at the studio.

Noelle and George asked if you have the interest and ability to attend to please wear your Star Maker jackets as you can stand with and be a part of this tribute. If you do not have a jacket, you are of course welcome to join as well.

There also is a go-fund me page created by other friends of their family to help them at this difficult time.

The Oscars aired this past weekend and so I thought with the timeliness of the US celebrating film, actors, and all the artists that help make the magic happen, I would offer this;

We are seeking members for our Pro Kids Holiday Vocal Troupe.

Prescreens Auditions are taking place via video self tape submissions. Minors who sing ages 10 to 17 who are interested in live and virtual performance opportunities, as well as professional studio recordings and releases should submit self tapes by email to [email protected].

Please include a slate stating name, age, birthdate, height, local to which city and where you reside now. Include a full body shot and video of 2- 32 bar cuts of two songs of your choice. Acappella is preferred - share video link via dropbox or Google Drive in email.

Rehearsals will be held in the Clinton/Flemington New Jersey areas as well as in New York City.

The Pro Kids Holiday Vocal Troupe will be releasing an album in early Fall 2023. All members will be invited to participate in recording the record. Recording will take place at a top industry studio using top industry pros and musicians.

Interested minors must have parental or guardian consent and support to submit. More details following self tape submissions - no obligation to submit.

The Pro Kids Holiday Vocal Troupe’s repertoire includes Pop, rock, singer, songwriter, Broadway, and Holiday Classics. Performances include Love Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bryant Park, New York City, New York, New York fashion week, NYC, restaurants and clubs, holiday festivals, and charity events both live and virtual.

Rehearsals are held primarily on Saturday afternoons, and sometimes in prep for upcoming events on Sundays.

The group is produced by Leesa Csolak and directed musically by Broadway veteran Diana DiMarzio.
