Girls Cross Country WINS Fonda-Fultonville Invitational!

The CCS Girls Cross Country team opened their season with a huge victory over 9 other schools at the Fonda-Fultonville Invitational today (9/5/26).

The top 15 runners in each Varsity race were awarded trophies and Freshman Quinn Catterson (2nd), Sophomores Sierra Townsend (4th) & Josey Bauer (5th), Seniors Emily Roy (6th) & Devyn Roy (12th) all earned trophies!

16th - 50th place were awarded medals and Sophomore Mathilde Boucek (22nd), Freshman Ava Carney (37th) and Junior Lilly O'Mara (39th) all walked away with medals!

Every Girl on the team won an award in the 54 runner field of athletes.

The Boys Squad finished 4th out of 11 schools participating and Junior Ben Morford led the way with a 3rd place finish (good for a trophy).

Freshman Druss Sonia (19th), Junior Daniel Gus (20th), Freshman Alfred Hoyt (32nd), Sophomore Andrew Van Wynsberghe (33rd), Senior Alex Foley (38th) and Freshman Ethan Kay (40th) all earned themselves medals in the 61 athlete race!

In the boys JV division Freshman Blake Pflanz led the way with an 8th place finish, Junior Cooper Rorick (11th), Sophomore Maddox Dibble (18th) and Junior Miles Reid (31st) all earned medals as well.

19 athletes from CCS competed in the 3 races and all 19 came home with some "hardware" to show for it!

Congratulations to Coach Sam Catterson on accepting a new position at Hamilton College!

Coach Catterson is a CCS grad (Class of 2001) and was a huge part of that year's Section III Championship team. A Peter "Speed" McCabbe athlete of the year award winner, an Ithaca College and Empire State Games Decathlete, Former CCS assistant XC, Indoor & Outdoor T&F coach and a former CCS XC head coach.

Coach Catterson has been a long time supporter of CCS athletes (particularly running his pole vault clinics) and helping to facilitate Section III's Indoor T&F meets in the Hutton Dome at Utica.

He was recently honored by Section III Athletics at their annual Athletic Director's kick-off meeting.
