✨ What's Up Wednesday ✨

We have SO much to celebrate this week! 🎊 My Virtual Academy-ATS Education Services is marking 35 years in education — and we're shining a spotlight on Mrs. Dietz, who has been part of our family for 32 of those years! 💚

As Director of Pupil Accounting and our Step Up program, Mrs. Dietz has touched an astonishing number of lives — well over 100,000 students across her career. 🎓 "It's a lot," she says humbly. We'd call it a lifetime of impact. 🌟

This week, she's telling us all about our Step Up program — a dropout recovery program unlike our traditional path. 📚

Here's how it works: students begin with orientation and diagnostics (around 5 hours), then jump into their first class — often an easy elective, "to get you successful" right out of the gate. 🎯 From there, a dedicated advocate checks in three times a week, reviews progress, sets goals, and pulls in tutoring support when needed. For students under 18, parents get a weekly check-in too. 👨‍👩‍👧

Step Up meets students where life has taken them 💛 — whether they've been suspended or expelled, are pregnant or parenting, have dropped out, fallen behind on credits, or are part of the juvenile justice system. These are students who haven't always found success elsewhere… but here, they get a fresh start.

And so much of it comes down to confidence. When you haven't succeeded before, believing in yourself is hard. So we start small, build a win, and grow from there. 🌱

This week we're excited to recognize Skye for the positive impact she has on students, staff, and our school partners!

From the very first interactions with Skye, it was clear that she brings professionalism, confidence, and genuine care to everything she does. During state testing, she demonstrated exceptional attention to detail by carefully following testing procedures while creating a calm and supportive environment for students.

Skye is always willing to share helpful tips, support those around her, and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Her positive attitude and willingness to help make a difference every day.

One of Skye's greatest strengths is her natural ability to build meaningful connections with students. She creates an environment where students feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to succeed—an invaluable quality in virtual education.

It's another Friday and we are proud to celebrate these graduates from our partnering school districts , one for each day of the week. What a great way to end the week!

This week we're celebrating Chris DeBoer, whose positive attitude, servant leadership, and team-first mindset make a lasting impact at My Virtual Academy every day!

Chris is the definition of someone who jumps in wherever she's needed. No matter the task, she approaches it with a smile and a solution-focused attitude, always wanting to help keep things running smoothly. She truly embodies the belief that no job is too small when it comes to supporting students, families, districts, and her teammates.

Beyond the work she does, Chris helps create a fun, lighthearted, and encouraging atmosphere in the office. She has a special ability to recognize when teammates need a little extra support, offering encouragement and helping keep everyone focused during even the busiest times.

Whether she's reaching out to school districts to help gather important student documentation or welcoming students during state testing with a warm smile and positive energy, Chris makes everyone feel valued. She has an incredible gift for connecting with younger students and helping them start their day with confidence.

🎓 From 6th and 7th grade at MVA... to his third year of college in computer & electrical engineering! 💚

Meet Cohen! He joined My Virtual Academy District Partnerships in 2018 — and his teacher remembers having to find ways to challenge him because he was blowing everyone away. 🌟 Now he's pursuing a career in brain-computer interface. 🧠💻

Why did online school work for him?
"Being able to go at my own pace was very helpful. I didn't have to worry about a lot of the issues that come with social interactions in middle school." 🙌
As a neurodivergent student, Cohen found something public school didn't offer — a place that let him learn his way. "It helped me change the way I interact with people." 💫

We hope you're having a wonderful day! This week we sat down with Mrs. Cureton — who this September celebrates an incredible 20 YEARS with My Virtual Academy! 💚🎊

Mrs. Cureton is our Student Success Coordinator, and one of the amazing things she leads is our College & Career Readiness Program. 🎓

So what's it all about? 🤔

Many students graduate feeling unsure of their next step. This program helps them gain perspective and explore what's out there — so they don't just flounder; they flourish! 🌟
