📊 Happy What's Up Wednesday! This week we sit down with Alberta Walker-Wheaton, our Data Coordinator. She's been with us for almost 20 years (she started at 26!).
Alberta's small-but-mighty data team turns numbers into the story of student success. They track how students improve, find where extra support is needed, and report progress to our district partners. What began with Excel spreadsheets is now a full set of dashboards. That data has shaped programs like our math and reading interventions and our wraparound services.
Alberta has also been a teacher and a site manager, and she reminds us that behind every data point is a student. "We believe in them until they believe in themselves." She talks about the patience and one-on-one attention that sets our program apart. Alberta explains how success coaches help students with needs like food, transportation, and more. She explains how MVA’s Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) process gives students another chance instead of pushing them out.
Alberta takes pride in that her former students are now entrepreneurs, parents, service members, and even a truck driver training to become a pilot. 💙
