Macomb County science teachers embraced the unknown and dug into their curiosities around sea lamprey in the MISD Science Leader's Network. Best of all, we had fun doing it!

WOW! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ What an amazing, exciting, invigorating, inspiring day at the FIRST Robotics Competition at Ferndale High School this weekend. My mom and I checked out the action and were blown away by the coop-itition. Huge props to every team that we saw today, keep up the innovation and engineering! See the comments for a video of the REST team from Roseville High School cleaning up the algae from the reef.

Scientific literacy is defining a problem (the 1 cup measure is dirty and the recipe calls for 2 cups of flour) and using mathematical thinking to solve the problem (2/3 times 3 is 6/3 which is 2 cups). Science never takes a break!
Happy Holidays everyone! ๐Ÿช

Through a collaboration with Oakland Flight Training out of Ray Community Airport, some amazing, dedicated teachers and I got to spend a day making connections between the Science and Engineering Practice of mathematical and computational thinking and being a private pilot. It was an incredible day of learning and engaging in science and culminated with a flight for each of us. We were also very fortunate to have a distinguished guest, Congresswoman Haley Stevens with us for the day to talk about her passion in working to advance science at the congressional level. It was truly an unforgettable site visit!
If you're a Macomb County teacher and are interested in professional learning like this, visit www.misd.net to browse course offerings. This site visit was part of the SEP Study series.
We truly cannot thank the Oakland Flight Training team of Chris, Greg, Patrick, Chris, and Chris enough for their time and knowledge to educate and inspire these Macomb County teachers!
