Fourth graders in Mrs. Hawa's class took their science learning to the Potomac River. Students explored how living things depend on one another, viewed plankton, and trawled for fish. They also learned how watersheds and runoff affect the river and the Chesapeake Bay.
Working in small groups, students tested water quality and used scientific tools to draw conclusions about the riverβs health. It was a hands-on day of teamwork, investigation, and learning how our everyday actions can help protect local waterways.
