For the Love of Children

Have you ever met one of those people who is so bubbly and just exudes excitement about life?? That person, friends, is Heather Rust. And I, a super-serious, do-gooder in an adversarial world of laws, professionals and people always fighting, needed that woman who had been devastated in life and yet still bounced with happiness for it all.

You see, I needed her services to take pictures of a child and her soon-to-be-born sister, both of whom I was planning to adopt. She’s a world-class artist with a newborn and a camera, folks. I wanted her. ONLY. As she sat in my living room, outlining her services between me folding clothes and my children interrupting to ask her all sorts of things, she casually mentioned that she had a lead on purchasing a daycare and she could not stop thinking about the possibilities.

To hear her tell it, my entire face came alive and I sat straight up from my lazy posture to stare at her.

“What? Do you want to do it with me?” she said, as if we had been friends our entire lives and she’d entrust such a life achievement to me without hesitation.
