As many of you know, our FFA chapter was rechartered in 2024. While we're excited about the future, we realize we know very little about our past. We believe agricultural education at Midlakes was alive and well until mid-to-late 1990s, but we have very little documented information.
This year, one of our goals is to learn more about the history of FFA in our community, including the programs and chapters in Phelps and Clifton Springs before the districts merged, as well as the history of FFA in the combined Phelps-Clifton Springs/Midlakes district.
Recently, we were gifted a collection of photographs from the Phelps Future Farmers of America chapter, and we hope they will be the beginning of uncovering and preserving our agricultural education history. Over the next few days, we will be sharing these photos and invite you to help us tell their stories. We would love to learn the names of those pictured, approximate dates, activities shown, the purpose of those activities, accomplishments, and any other details you may remember. Every piece of information helps!
We look forward to hearing your memories and learning more about the impact FFA has had in our community throughout the years. If you have old FFA photos, newspaper clippings, yearbook pages, awards, memorabilia, or other historical items from Phelps, Clifton Springs, or Midlakes, please consider sharing them with us. We would be honored to add copies to our growing collection and help preserve this important history for future generations.
