Test prep season is a delicate balancing act.

🤹‍♀️ You need to prepare students for the upcoming test.
🤹‍♀️ Review content so it’s fresh in their mind.
🤹‍♀️ And keep students engaged in learning.

You don't need more on your plate.

You need resources to turn your balancing act into a well-choreographed performance, where students are building skills and staying engaged.

That’s why I’ve teamed up with a group of educators to create The Test Prep Toolkit. 🙌

The Test Prep Toolkit is packed full of test prep resources for grades 1-4. Get access to over 20+ resources for free, including -

👉 Roll and Read Fluency from Sparkling in Second
👉 Baseball Test Prep Room Transformation from Teaching with Simplicity
👉 3rd Grade Opinion Writing Practice from ME! 😉
👉 Math Fractions Collaborative Poster from Teresa Kwant
👉 Fiction Standard Assessments from Ideas by Jivey

That’s $130 worth of resources for free!

But it won’t stay that way for long. 👀 Grab The Test Prep Toolkit by March 2nd, so you don’t miss out on the savings (and the opportunity to take planning off your plate!).

💾 SAVE THIS POST 💾 for when you're feeling overwhelmed about classroom management!

My classroom management rules I swear by:
1️⃣ Always start with building relationships
2️⃣ Perfect lesson plans don't exist - just start teaching!
3️⃣ Ask for help when you need backup (we've all been there!)
4️⃣ Take brain breaks when your students are squirmy
5️⃣ Give students processing time when they need it
6️⃣ Change up your strategies when something isn't working

Because let's be real - some days we all need a reminder that we've got this! 💜 These rules have saved my sanity more times than I can count. 😂

➡️ Which rule resonates most with you? Drop a number in the comments! ✨

Where it all began…
(Swipe to see today!)

Back in 2006, I got my first classroom job. It was at a charter school in Cleveland. Young Mikey was anxious to make a difference in the lives of kids, and he couldn’t wait to get started.

I can’t find pictures of my first classroom, so this is the classroom of my 2nd year of teaching. It’s the same school, but I looped with my kids and moved to a new room in a different wing of the school.

Clearly technology has improved over time, and the picture makes it look super dingy. But I promise it was light and bright in this space!

18 years later, and I’m in a bright remodeled classroom in a different district, and some things have changed. I have new teaching partners, I’m teaching a different subject area, and I prioritize my own health and wellness first

But the one thing that remains the same is that my passion for my students’ growth and happiness is as strong as ever.

Where was your first classroom? Comment below and let us know!

Cal’s addicted to coffee, just like his dad. ☕️

It’s time to retire some of the very first products that I made. They’ve served me and my teachers well, but they - to be blunt - need to be overhauled and it’s just too much work for me right now.

I’m sending 17 products into retirement, but before I do, you can snag them for $1 each!

Take a look at the link in my bio!

Most of the products are social studies related, but you can also find some math and language arts in there as well.
This sale ends on January 7, 2024. These products will be retired on the 8th.

Thanks for your support of teachers, products! ;)

Just thought you should know…

Cal heard the news out of Florida. He’s pi**ed.

In all sincerity, the idea that Florida teachers are supposed to teach that enslaved people had ANY SORT OF BENEFIT from slavery is ridiculous and racist and awful and deplorable and…. the list goes on.

It’s unacceptable.
