Join educators from Cleveland State University and Oberlin College for a round table discussion of three renowned authors with deep ties to Cleveland: Charles Chesnutt, Langston Hughes, and Chester Himes. We will explore how their time in Cleveland shaped their writing and the impact of their works on our community. Professors Burrell and Gosselin will discuss Hughes’ relationship with Karamu House and Chesnutt's literary career in Cleveland. Professor Johns will explore Chester Himes' pioneering role in the genres of urban and detective fiction. This event is free, but registration is required.
