They came out of the gym like this—hands linked, smiles wide, and completely wrapped up in the joy of being together. 💜

These are the moments that remind us that school is not only a place children come to learn. It is one of the places where childhood happens.

Between the lessons and routines, friendships take root, confidence grows, laughter spills into the hallways, and ordinary days become the stories children will one day remember.

For us as educators, being trusted with these years is a privilege. We care deeply about who our Vikings are becoming as students—but just as deeply about the childhood they are experiencing along the way.

Tomorrow begins another week of learning. It also brings another week of little moments we cannot plan, friendships we get to watch grow, and joy that may appear when we least expect it.

Sleep well, Vikings. There is so much good waiting for us this week. 💜💛

🤖🔬 THIRD GRADE LEARNING IN ACTION! 🔢🧪

Our third graders were busy thinking, testing, measuring, coding, and discovering this past week!

Rounding numbers rolled into robotics as students solved math challenges and used color-coded commands to guide Ozobots along their paths. Every mark mattered—and an unexpected move became an opportunity to check the code, make an adjustment, and try again.

Science learning came to life through five investigation stations focused on the properties of matter. Students explored solids, liquids, and gases while gathering evidence about properties that remain fixed and those that can change.

They compared liquid volume using containers of various sizes, measured length in centimeters and inches, determined mass with pan balances, examined the textures of objects, and used careful observations to infer the purpose of a tool. Each student recorded data and explained discoveries in their own words.

What a week of curiosity, concentration, problem-solving, and meaningful learning in third grade! 💜💛

🐻🧺A BEARY SWEET DAY IN KINDERGARTEN🧺🐻

If you peeked into kindergarten last week, you were in for the sweetest surprise! Our littlest Vikings brought their favorite teddy bears to school for a morning filled with learning, laughter, and plenty of cuddly fun.

As they explored the color BROWN, ordinary learning became a teddy bear adventure—complete with a picnic in the beautiful morning weather, bear-themed snacks, cookies, and some very special furry guests! 🤎

The bears may have come for the picnic, but the smiles, giggles, and sweet kindergarten memories were the real treat. 💜💛

It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means—another round of twinning at Prospect! 💜

There’s just something sweet about spotting Vikings who showed up matching. Sometimes it’s planned, sometimes it’s a total surprise, but either way, it gives us another reason to celebrate the connections that make our school so special.

Because the best matches at Prospect aren’t really about the clothes—they’re the friendships, smiles, and sense of belonging behind them. 💜💛

💛 THE BEST PART OF SCHOOL? THE PEOPLE. 💜

There are a lot of things we hope our Vikings learn inside these walls.

But tucked in between the reading, math, science, specials, and all the growing that happens each day are moments like this. 🥹

A friend you can’t wait to see.
A hug in the hallway.
A familiar face that makes a new school day feel a little easier.
The simple joy of knowing you belong here.

Because years from now, our students may not remember every lesson or every assignment—but we hope they remember how it felt to walk through the doors of Prospect and know there were people here who were genuinely happy to see them. 💜

Here’s to another week of learning, laughing, growing, and taking care of one another.

💜 VIKINGS, IT’S TIME TO UNWIND! 💛

Did you know today is National Relaxation Day? And after our first full week of school, we think the timing is pretty perfect. 😌

Getting back into the school routine is exciting—but new schedules, early mornings, learning expectations, friendships, activities, and simply being “on” all day can be a lot for little Vikings! And sometimes, stress looks different in children than it does in adults.

It might look like extra tiredness, irritability, tears over something small, tummy aches, headaches, trouble falling asleep, needing a little more reassurance—or even being extra silly, energetic, or emotional.

So this weekend, give those growing brains a chance to rest and reset. 💜

A few simple ideas:
🛋️ Allow some guilt-free downtime
🌳 Get outside and play with no agenda
📚 Read together
🎨 Color, draw, build, or create
🎵 Turn on some favorite music
😴 Protect bedtime and catch up on rest
🤗 Make room for some extra connection and cuddles
💬 And sometimes…just let them talk while you listen

Not every weekend needs to be packed with plans. Sometimes the best thing we can give our kids after a big week is a little space to simply be kids.

Viking families, our fall fundraiser officially kicked off yesterday! 🎉 Prospect is partnering with American Fundraising Group, a Tennessee-based company that has been helping schools raise funds since 1996.

Students brought home everything they need to get started with great catalogs to shop:

🎼🎶💜PROSPECT SINGERS AUDITIONS 💛🎶 🎼

Do you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader who loves to sing? Auditions for Prospect Singers, Prospect Elementary’s auditioned school choir, are coming up next week!

📋 Permission to audition forms are due Monday, August 17.

🎤 Auditions: Tuesday, August 18 during school
🎶 Additional & make-up auditions: Thursday, August 20 during school

Students should be prepared to sing the first verse of “My Country ’Tis of Thee,” which they have been learning in music class.

Prospect Singers rehearse every Thursday until 4:00 PM beginning August 27 and have opportunities throughout the year to perform for the school and community—including the special Choir-Day-Out, community concerts, and other events! 💜

✨ All 3rd–5th grade students are welcome to audition.

We are so disappointed to share that, once again, our Back-to-School Bash has been cancelled. 💜💛

We know our Prospect families were looking forward to a fun evening together, and believe us—we were too!

At this point, we’re going to take the hint from Mother Nature and call it. 😅 Thank you for rolling with us through the plans, the reschedule, and now the cancellation.

One thing we know for sure: it takes more than a little inclement weather to stop our Viking spirit. 💜💛
