The Heart of Dying Project End of Life Doula, Educator and Consultant

Offering support and advocacy to families, friends and those facing a life changing diagnosis.

An End-of-Life Doula is a non-medical comfort companion who is trained to care for those facing a life altering diagnosis, or terminal illness. They also offer support, advocacy and education to family, friends and support teams. EOLD training is both inclusive and holistic in nature while offering support on a physical, spiritual and emotional level. They know what conditions may arise as someones body begins to decline and what non-medical interventions to suggest to optimize comfort, with compassion and care while working with palliative care and hospice support teams. When working with the dying in hospitals, volunteering and through her own personal experiences, Adaire witnessed many people dying alone, in isolated rooms, without family or support teams. The gap in compassionate comfort care between diagnosis, treatment and death was becoming more prevalent within our society. Dying needs to be removed from institutions and experienced within our homes once more, believing home is where the heart is.
