We love seeing our Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing alumni come together. Last week, over 50 alums met up at Topgolf Cleveland to enjoy smokehouse BBQ, practice their swings and catch up with each other.

It was great to see so many alumni, especially the 2025 MSN cohort, who made a special effort to reunite at the event!

Thanks to everyone who joined us and made the night so much fun! 🏌️‍♂️🔥

Ever played an intramural game on Van Horn Field? The grassy spot in front of Veale Convocation, Recreation and Athletic Center is named for Frank R. “Count” Van Horn, who is known as the “Father of Case [School of Applied Science] Athletics.” Learn more about Van Horn on the bicentennial website and share your intramural memories in the comments. https://case.edu/bicentennial/history/our-stories/frank-r-count-van-horn

James Galm (CIT ’84; GRS ’87, ’91, electrical engineering and applied physics) didn’t just earn his degrees from Case Western Reserve—he built on them. Now he is investing $10 million to ensure the next generation of CWRU researchers can do the same.

His gift will advance energy and electrochemistry research at a university that has been a world leader in the field for decades. We are proud to call him a Spartan.

In 1855, Western Reserve College was drowning in debt and its future was far from certain. Then Henry Lawrence Hitchcock stepped in.

As the third president of the institution that would one day become Case Western Reserve University, Hitchcock did something remarkable: he wiped out the debt threatening to close the college's doors—all while serving as college pastor, professor of Christian theology, and even mayor of Hudson, Ohio.

His name lives on in Hitchcock House on our campus today. But the full story of the man who saved our university deserves to be told.

A building that has stood at the heart of our campus since 1888 is about to become something extraordinary.

Adelbert Gym—one of Case Western Reserve's most storied spaces—is being transformed into DiSanto Arena, thanks to its philanthropic funding—which was completed with a gift from Don Richards (CIT ’79, MGT ‘81) and his wife, Marianne

When DiSanto Arena reopens in spring 2027, it will feature over 6,000 square feet of renovations and expansions—including new locker rooms, a Spartan Gallery social space, a new lobby and entry tower, and upgraded seating

This is what it looks like when Spartans give back.

Do you have a memory of Adelbert Gym? Share it in the comments!
