🌱 Group meets tomorrow!

The Seedling: New Parent Support Group meets on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month, 10am–12pm, at Wollemi Counseling (24500 Center Ridge Rd., Suite 279, Westlake).

This is a soft place to land in the first year of parenthood — a mix of education, connection, and emotional support as you navigate infant development, sleep, feeding, and caregiving, alongside the identity and relationship shifts that come with this season.

Facilitated by Lisa Falkenstein, newborn care expert with Nurtured Foundation.

You don't need to have it figured out. Confident, overwhelmed, exhausted, hopeful — come as you are. Compassion over perfection, community over comparison, growth at your own pace.

All caregivers and family structures welcome. If you're parenting a baby in that first year, this space is for you.

đź’¬ Comment or DM us with questions, or just show up.

Celebrating Black Breastfeeding Week!

✨Breastfeeding is more than just feeding—it is a powerful act of nurture, community resilience, and reclaiming health equity. While we honor the strength and joy of Black mothers, we must also shine a light on why targeted awareness during this week remains critical:

➡️Maternal Health Disparities: According to CDC data, Black women face a maternal mortality rate roughly 2.5 to 3 times higher than white women in the United States, driven largely by systemic inequities in healthcare. ➡️Breastfeeding Disparities: Black mothers experience lower breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates—~79% initiation vs. ~85% for white mothers—due to systemic barriers, lack of culturally competent lactation care, and less workplace flexibility.
➡️Infant Health Impact: Research shows that babies breastfed for at least 3 months have a 38% reduced risk of infant mortality, making access to lactation support a vital health initiative for Black infants.

Black Breastfeeding Week isn't just about awareness—it's about building networks of care, expanding access to doulas and IBCLCs, demanding equitable maternal care, and creating space for Black families to thrive. 💛 *W
