SculptureX SculptureX (i.e.

A teaching & networking resource & promotional platform "housed" at The Sculpture Center, Cleveland initiated by CIVITAS, Erie to catalyze collaborations among art educational institutions in western PA & western NY & in OH, WVA, MI, IN & KY sculpture exchange) was founded in 2010 by faculty and administrators at four institutions: Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (Lisa Austin, Dietrich Wegner); the Erie Art Museum (John Vanco); the Cleveland Institute of Art (Saul Ostrow, Charles Tucker, Lane Cooper); and with Ann Albano at Cleveland's The Sculpture Center - the latter of which which continues to serve as the "center" of SculptureX. Other institutions participating in SculptureX include the Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus, OH and Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. Annual events, exhibitions, and symposia include:

2017 – SculptureX “Value Added,” Wayne State University, Detroit, MI (speaker, t.b.a.)

2016 – Attending the International Sculpture Center Conference, Pittsburgh, PA

Kyle Dancewicz, author of Art in America's "Can you teach art on line?", is organizing a panel discussion on the topic for SX2020 for Thursday, September 17th.

Art educators are still troubleshooting questions about how to work with students remotely in real time, and the challenge is opening up existential questions about art as much as logistical ones.

Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s symposium! Special thanks to all the artist, presenters, and institutions that sponsored this year's event!

Like our page so you can be the first to know about next year’s symposium which will be moving onto Pennsylvania!

We couldn’t have done this without the fantastic talents and hard work of our organizers Paula Baldoni, Brian Carpenter, and Charles Tucker, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to put this together.

Paula Baldoni has owned and operated River House Arts in Toledo, Ohio since 2009. She is also the Co-founder and Program Director of Contemporary Art Toledo.  Baldoni received a Master of Divinity from Harvard University and a BA from Ohio University.
