Cool simulation at MetroHealth!

Med students 🤝 MetroHealth professionals Last Wednesday, MetroHealth’s Simulation Institute and Emergency Medicine residency program held the first biannual #SimFest with students from medical schools around Ohio. Designed to introduce students to our Emergency Medicine residency program – a collaboration with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and Cleveland Clinic – and showcase our staff, facilities and culture through hands-on learning experiences, SimFest was a daylong event in our Simulation Center attended by 36 future clinicians from CWRU School of Medicine, University of Toledo’s College of Medicine and Life Sciences, Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and John Carroll University. Over the course of the day, physicians, nurses, Simulation Center staff and residents guided the students through simulations based on real cases, including postpartum seizures, vehicular injuries, point-of-care ultrasound, cardiac pacing, and pediatric injuries related to non-accidental trauma. Each experience empowered students to ask questions, make mistakes and get to know the professionals that would support them during clinical rotations at MetroHealth.
