Orff-Schulwerk Certification Course Orff Schulwerk is a unique approach to music education. Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman founded this child-centered approach that connects speech, movement, song, instruments, and listening, emphasizing creativity and active engagement by the children.

Jennifer Lucas is returning to teach all 3 levels of movement for the Lee University Orff Courses! Remember the early bird discount ends March 31st!
Jennifer Lucas holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Southeast Missouri State University, and a Master of Arts in Education from Lindenwood University. A 29-year veteran of Missouri public schools, she teaches K-5th grade general music in O’Fallon, Missouri, for the Fort Zumwalt School District. She is also the director of the choir and instrumental ensemble at her school. She is an instructor for the American Orff-Schulwerk Association’s teacher education certification program and has served on faculty for Orff-Schulwerk teacher education courses at Northeast State University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Jennifer has presented professional development for her local district and is an active member of her local St. Louis AOSA chapter.

Allen Moody is back and ready to teach all three levels of Recorder! Register today to be a part of our Orff levels this coming June 3rd through the 14th.
Allen Moody is the Orff Music specialist at Idlewild Elementary where he teaches music to kindergarten through fifth grade students. Under his direction, the Idlewild Recorder Ensemble has performed at the 2014 AOSA National Conference in Nashville, TN and at the TNMEA state conference. Allen is an active member in the Memphis Chapter of AOSA and is a past president. He currently serves as President of the West Tennessee General Music Education Association. Allen serves as the recorder instructor for summer Orff levels course at Lee University and at the University of Memphis he is the course director and recorder instructor for the Summer Orff Institute for teacher training. He has presented sessions at the AOSA National Conference and workshops for Orff chapters across the USA. He received his Master’s of Music in Music Education from the University of Memphis in December 2018. He serves on the Executive Board for Summer at the Scheidt, through the University of Memphis, as a director of their Elementary Music Camp. Allen is a National Board Certified Teacher.

Help us welcome Charlie Tighe as our Level III Basic Pedagogy Clinician! Registration is open for all 3 levels!
Charlie Tighe teaches Music Education at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA where he heads Elementary Music Education and teaches in the Honors College. Mr. Tighe completed his Orff training at the University of Memphis, UNLV, and the Orff Institute in Salzburg and has taught Orff Levels Courses throughout the United States. As a clinician, Mr. Tighe has presented internationally in India, Singapore, Austria, and Canada as well as sessions at ten AOSA National Conventions. He is an authors of Silver Burdett Interactive Music published by Savvas and We Would Do Well to Listen published by Beatin’ Path Publishers. Mr. Tighe completed his studies at Kenyon College, the University of Colorado Boulder, and Boston University.

Please help us welcome back Betsy Carter to Lee University Orff! Registration is open TODAY for Orff Levels I, II, & III offered June 3rd through the 14th.
Betsy Carter is an Orff Music specialist at Snowden School in Memphis, TN, where she teaches grades K-5. She is a 2023 CMA Foundation Music Teacher of Excellence. Betsy is also an AOSA Orff Pedagogy Teacher Educator and has taught Orff Level I and II Basic Pedagogy at Lee University, and Level I at Anderson University and The University of Memphis. Betsy has presented workshops at the AOSA National Conference, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee MEA Conferences, and for Orff Chapters in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Georgia. She has served as an Orff Mentor teacher and curriculum writer for Memphis Shelby County Schools for 10 years and currently serves as the Memphis Chapter AOSA President. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Betsy completed her Orff Levels at the University of Memphis, masterclasses at Trinity University and Anderson University, and her apprenticeship at Anderson University. Betsy is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood Music and has written several articles for the Orff Echo. Her specialties are curriculum development, grant writing, and community partnerships. She is a co-creator of the Side by Side Orff Orchestra partnership with the Memphis Symphony and led the project's first performance in 2015. When not teaching Orff, Betsy also performs in the trumpet section of the Memphis Symphony.

Jason Glashauser teaches pre-K to 6th-grade general music for Clinton City Schools in Clinton, Tennessee. Jason was named a CMA Foundation Music Teacher of Excellence in 2022 and 2023 and received a Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship in 2016. Jason is a member of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, where he is a certified teacher educator. He is also a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Tennessee Music Educators Association, the Eastern Tennessee General Music Educators Association, and the International Horn Society. He is also the president of the Southern Appalachian AOSA chapter.
