Global Ambassadors Language Academy - GALA

GALA is excited to announce the start of renovations at the historic McKinley building, (3349 W. 125th St., Cleveland, 44111)! After more than three years of pursuing financing, five years after purchasing the building, ten years since opening GALA in 2016, and sixteen years after first incorporating GALA in 2010, the $20+ million project to build GALA's permanent school home has officially begun.

We are incredibly grateful to be able to give the children and teachers a building that they deserve.

GALA is honored to provide a high-quality, tuition-free bilingual education in Mandarin and Spanish to children in Cleveland - many of whom come from communities experiencing longstanding economic and systemic barriers to opportunities and quality education. GALA believes deeply in celebrating language, culture, diversity, belonging, and creating a safe, joyful place where children can see themselves reflected, valued, and empowered. At a time when these ideals feel challenged, GALA intends to shine even brighter in our future home.

Renovations will be completed in July 2027, and include a new roof, new HVAC system, transformed auditorium, installation of an elevator, updated classrooms, gymnasium, bathrooms, offices, and transporting our beloved Fialeny Playground to the new site. After renovations are completed, GALA will be starting the 2027-2028 school year in our new school home!

Thank you for making our Book Fair amazing - GALA earned $2,456 in Scholastic Dollars thanks to your support!

The Scholastic Dollars from last year’s fair helped GALA purchase rugs and bookcases for the school. Scholastic Dollars also help the school purchase books for teachers and students.

The kids were so excited and it was a joy to watch them pick out books!
Thank you to Lindsay George, Brittany Perkins and Jess Roman for volunteering during the book fair! Thank you to GALA teachers and staff for your help as well!

Thank you to all the families and friends in the greater community that generously donated money through Share the Fair. Those donations helped GALA students be able to buy a book from the fair.

7th & 8th grade field trip to Washington DC

Join us for the free screening of Making Waves: The Rise of Asian America. This documentary explores the vital role of Ethnic Studies in redefining the narrative and promoting service to Asian American communities across the country. From the birth of Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley and San Francisco State to present-day movements, Making Waves documents the stories of Asian American activism and efforts to lift up Ethnic Studies as a strategy to address present and future waves of anti-Asian hate.

The event will feature panel speakers: Ron Falconi, mayor of Brunswick, and Meran Rogers, Executive Director of Global Ambassadors Language Academy.

GALA kindergarten class began Unit 7, All Around the World: Geography, this week. As part of our Social Studies learning, students went outside to explore the area around the GALA building and created maps based on their observations of the surroundings!
