The Cleveland Transformation Alliance derives its mission and scope from Cleveland’s Plan for Transforming Schools, the 2012 blueprint for a comprehensive reinvention of public education in Cleveland. This plan lays out the city’s transition to a portfolio strategy -- a new system of district and charter schools held to the highest standard of performance with innovative partnerships to create dramatic achievement gains for every student. The Cleveland Plan is supported by legislative changes outlined in House Bill 525 of the Ohio General Assembly, which required bipartisan support and an unprecedented level of collaboration among district, charter, union, foundations and business stakeholders. The Alliance was created by this landmark legislation and serves as the advocacy and accountability voice for school reform in Cleveland.

Created as part of Cleveland’s Plan for Transforming Schools, the Cleveland Transformation Alliance is a public-private partnership dedicated to growing a portfolio of quality district and charter schools in Cleveland. The Alliance works to ensure every child in Cleveland attends a quality school, and every neighborhood has great schools from which families can choose.

Our four work roles are: Assessing all district and charter schools in the city; Communicating with families about school quality and options; Ensuring fidelity to the Cleveland Plan; Monitoring the quality and growth of the charter sector.
