The Department of Medicine at UH Cleveland Medical Center and Louis Stokes VA Medical Center (CWRU-affiliate), is recognized as an international leader in internal medicine, biomedical research and the teaching of physicians. Last week, the Department of Medicine was proud to honor our newest Associate Professors and Professors at the AY 2025–2026 Senior Faculty Recognition Celebration at the Wolstein Research Building Auditorium.

Special thanks to Medicine’s own Dr. Stephen Carpenter for sharing inspiring reflections on his career journey. Honorees were recognized on stage alongside Dr. Cliff Megerian (CEO, UH Health System), Dr. Dan Simon (President, Academic & External Affairs and CSO, UH), and Dean Stanton L. Gerson (Dean, CWRU School of Medicine).

We are excited to announce the appointment of Maroun Matta, MD, MSc, as Subspecialty Medicine Informaticist within the Department of Medicine!

In this vital leadership role, Dr. Matta will help advance our strategic use of clinical informatics, data, and digital tools to enhance patient care, streamline clinical workflows, and empower our academic mission. He will collaborate closely with faculty, trainees, and IT leaders to champion health tech innovation across our medical subspecialties.
