A floor is just a floor... until it becomes the foundation for dreams.

Last week, scholars and educators at John Adams College & Career Academy celebrated the ribbon-cutting of a brand-new gym floor, thanks to the incredible support of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Ohio CAT.

This marks the second gym floor ribbon-cutting this month, following the celebration at George Washington Carver.

More than a court, these spaces are where confidence is built, teamwork is strengthened, and futures take shape.

Thank you to the Cavs and Ohio CAT for investing in CMSD scholars and creating opportunities that will inspire generations to come.

Here is what is happening around the District for the week of September 21, 2026.

CEO Leadership Fellowship
Applications open for the 2026-27 CEO Leadership Fellowship.
Two scholars from each CMSD high school will be selected.
They will experience leadership development, mentorship, and exclusive learning opportunities.
Applications and essays are due September 30, 2026.
Interested scholars should contact their principal.

Attendance Awareness Month
Chronic absenteeism means missing 10% of the school year, about 18 days.
Missing school increases the risk of academic setbacks.
Families are encouraged to build routines and prioritize daily attendance.
Every day counts. Attendance matters.

Electronic Grade Book
Families new to CMSD and those who haven't logged on yet to the CMSD Electronic Gradebook, check your email and spam folder for account activation information.
Families can monitor grades, attendance, and academic progress through the CMSD Electronic Grade Book.

School-Based Health Clinics
Free services include annual physicals, sports physicals, immunizations, and more.
Available through CMSD's six school-based health care clinics.
Caregivers should complete the School-Based Health Services Consent Form.
Forms are available on the District website.

Pre-K Professional Development Day
No school for Pre-K students on Friday.
CMSD educators will participate in professional development.

Cleveland Goes to College Fair & Family Night
Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Arnold R. Pinkney East Professional Center.
Learn about college admissions, financial aid, and postsecondary planning.
Open to scholars and families.
The College Fair will take place earlier in the day for scholars, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

CMSD Shout Out
