Jayne S., Penelope P., and Quinn O. have spent signficant time this past school year on their PAWS for Change project. The idea began during the 2024-25 school year when they participated in a pitch challenge. They have since raised funds, reinvested in fundraisers to signficantly increase their total money raised, and turned that into tangible donations for the Berea ARF.

At our 6-7th Grade Honors Assembly, they presented a representative from Berea ARF with items they purchased to be donated along with a check. The ARF also brought a special representative to the honors assembly, little Wyatt! A puppy recently rescued who stole the show at the assembly.

Way to go Jayne, Penelope, and Quinn!

What an inspiring day at the OSLN (Ohio STEM Learning Network) Summit in Columbus this week!

Several IWA faculty and administration were grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside educators from across Ohio through engaging keynote presentations, meaningful breakout sessions, and the Hall of Inspiration highlighting innovative work taking place in schools throughout the state.

We are especially proud that Incarnate Word Academy was selected to present not one, but two breakout sessions. Our STEAM Building Coach, Anne Hribar, shared how she utilizes Population Education resources to create interdisciplinary lessons teaching students how human population growth and demographic trends impact the environment, natural resources, and human well-being.

In addition, our Director of Innovation & Technology, Karen Micheli, and first-grade teacher, Debbie Schieferle, presented on how our Innovation Center serves as a hub for faculty collaboration, developing students as agents of change, while also strengthening alumni and community engagement.

Because breakout sessions are submitted through a proposal process and reviewed for acceptance, it was an honor to have two IWA presentations included in this year's conference.

We were also excited to showcase our work with Community Arts partnerships in the Hall of Inspiration.

We are proud to share the great work, learning, and collaboration happening at IWA!

After more than 30 years of faithful service in Catholic education, we celebrate the remarkable career of our beloved second-grade teacher, Jill Rolle.

For generations of students, Mrs. Rolle has made learning come alive. Whether teaching reading, math, science, or religion, she has a special gift for transforming everyday lessons into memorable experiences filled with curiosity and enthusiasm. Her quick wit and sense of humor have brought joy to countless classrooms, while her love of Dotsons and butterflies has become legendary among students and colleagues alike.

Beyond academics, Mrs. Rolle has played a profound role in the faith formation of our students. Through her dedication to sacramental preparation, she has helped guide children and families through the sacred milestones of First Reconciliation and First Communion, nurturing hearts as well as minds.

While we celebrate her retirement from full-time teaching, we are thrilled that this is not goodbye. Mrs. Rolle will continue to share her gifts with our school community next year as a part-time aide, and we couldn't be more excited to have her remain a part of the IWA family.

Mrs. Rolle, thank you for the countless lives you have touched and for leaving your legacy at IWA!
