This week, we are collaborating with La Alianza to rally our members in supporting the CWRU Black Organizations. Our joint executive boards will be matching $360 to go towards their fundraiser for Black Lives Matter protesting efforts.
Though we are only able to match $360, we aim to go beyond this amount, and ask our members to be involved in fundraising as well.
We will be matching donations from Monday, June 15th until Friday, June 19th. Look at executive members' stories to donate! After this, we still encourage our members to donate to the fundraiser which runs till July 4th. The link to the fundraiser can be found in any of the participating CWRU Black Organizations’ bios. Please check out our story and please DM this account after you donate.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day protests in the US, coming together as the result of an oil spill in California, the controversy behind Rachel Carson’s environmental science book, ‘Silent Spring,’ and the energy of the anti-war movement. On April 22, 1970, 20 million people—10% of the US population at the time —set out in the streets to protest for better environmental protection. By the end of the year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was created, and the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act passed within the next three years. Today, Earth Day is observed by over 1 billion people, and is recognized as the largest secular observance in the world.
