To start our day, we have a reading challenge to earn a fall-themed treat as we work toward Fall Break next week. Students loved getting to pair up and read with a 5th grade reading buddy! So much fun when we can enjoy reading a good book together.

💙 Celebrating Friendship! 💙

Today we had some very special guests from the Hazelnut Movement who taught us an important lesson about friendship, kindness, inclusion, and celebrating what makes each person unique!

We learned to put on our “superhero goggles” 👓✨ and look beyond someone’s disability to see their SUPERPOWERS—the amazing things they CAN do and the special strengths they bring to the world!

Our students made a Friendship Promise to:
💙 Notice someone who may be left out or alone
💙 Make room for others
💙 Choose kindness
💙 Help everyone feel like they belong
💙 Be the kind of friend we would want to have

We finished by making friendship bracelets to give to someone who might need a friend. 🫶

Such a wonderful reminder that our differences are worth celebrating and that sometimes one small act of kindness can help someone feel seen, valued, and included. 💙✨

📚🌎 Learning Through Literature & Culture! 🌎📚

Today in Third grade, we continued our learning with Little Havana and learned about a little girl exploring and celebrating her Cuban culture. 🇨🇺❤️

To bring the story to life, we got to try something new—plantains! 🍌 We tasted both raw and cooked plantains and, let’s just say… they got some mixed reviews! 😂

But whether they loved them or weren’t quite convinced, everyone enjoyed the opportunity to try something new and experience a little piece of Cuban culture. 🌎✨

I love watching my students learn that books can take us places, introduce us to different cultures, and encourage us to be brave enough to try something new! 💛📖

A huge thank you to the Cleveland Police Department for taking the time to visit our school today and share your amazing police dog, Kache, with us! 🐾🚓

Our students absolutely loved learning about Kache’s training, skills, and the important work police dogs do to help keep our community safe. It was such a fun and memorable experience for everyone!

We truly appreciate your service, kindness, and willingness to invest in our students. Thank you for making today so special! 💙

Our Starbucks Day was a huge hit! ☕✨

Students had the best time decorating their own Starbucks bags and designing creative cups. We also dove into learning how coffee is grown and made—such a fun real-world connection!

We even added in some real-world math review, Starbucks-style! Students practiced skills through fun, hands-on scenarios like totaling orders, working with money, and solving real-life word problems—just like they would at a coffee shop. 💰📊

To top it all off, they enjoyed sweet treats like cookies and their choice of a “mocha” (chocolate milk with whipped cream and sprinkles) or a “strawberry refresher” (strawberry lemonade with Cool Whip and sprinkles).

They loved every single minute of it, and honestly… so did I. 💛 What a fun and well-deserved way to celebrate all their hard work on the ELA portion of TCAP this week!

🌟 What a Special Day in 3rd Grade! 🌟

Today our third grade students had the incredible opportunity to participate in a powerful presentation from The Hazelnut Movement. 💛

They shared an inspiring message about embracing our superpowers — the unique qualities and differences that make each of us special. Students learned that kindness, compassion, and understanding are some of the greatest strengths we can have.

Our third graders took a meaningful pledge to be friends who care for others, to celebrate each other’s unique capabilities, and to lead with love and kindness. 🫶

We are so proud of the thoughtful conversations, open hearts, and leadership we saw today. These are the moments that shape not just strong learners, but strong humans. 💫

🇺🇸 Veterans Day Spotlight: Mr. Joel Bright Visits 3rd Grade! 🇺🇸

Today our third graders welcomed Mr. Joel Bright, a United States Navy veteran, to learn what it truly means to be a veteran—someone who has served our country in the Armed Forces to help protect our freedoms.

Mr. Bright shared about service, sacrifice, teamwork, and courage. Students were amazed to hear how sailors work together at sea, follow safety routines, and support other ships so missions can continue. He reminded us that Veterans Day is a time to thank those who served and to remember the families who support them.

Thank you, Mr. Bright, for inspiring our students and for your service to our nation! 💙

🌤️ Fun STEM Friday Highlights! 🌪️

Yesterday was so much fun! We’ve been learning all about weather and storm chasers, so we took our learning outside! ☀️

Our students:
☁️ Observed and identified different types of clouds
🔥 Built solar ovens to toast delicious s’mores
🧩 Solved a weather-themed math mystery
🌪️ Created mini tornadoes and watched them spin
💨 Conducted a STEM investigation testing how wind strength (from fans!) can move objects

It was a blast of learning and laughter—what a bright, storm-chasing kind of day! ⚡️
