This morning, the BSU executive team volunteered at the as part of day of service! We very much enjoyed working and talking with workers and fellow volunteers of many backgrounds and different stories! Each day, the Greater Cleveland food bank prepares 6000-7000 meals that are distributed to different nutrition centers in the Northeast Ohio area! These meals are important due to the lack of access to nutritional food in the East Cleveland area! We are very happy to contribute to this organizations mission!

The CIM Black Student Union was honored last Sunday to host The Cleveland Orchestra's Daniel R. Lewis Composer Fellow Allison Loggins-Hull.
Clarinetist Marquise Lindsey-Bradley (Yusuf) and pianist Matias Cuevas (Shapiro) worked with Loggins-Hull on her piece "Kalief," based on the tragic story of Kalief Browder. She shared how the art of storytelling is embedded in her composition process and challenged the students to find more grit in their expression.
"I started out simply telling Kalief's story through my interpretation," remarks Lindsey-Bradley, "but she inspired me to let the clarinet embody his spirit."

The time has come again for our 3rd Annual Benefit Concert!!! Save the date and hit the donation link in our bio 🤎
If you are new here and don’t know what this concert is… The BSU is putting on a concert that highlights the works of Black and Latin composers to raise money for the Musical Pathways students here at CIM to help offset the cost for them to attend music summer programs. Last year we raised almost $8,000 so this year the goal is to reach $10,000.
The concert is Sunday, October 9th in Mixon Hall at 6pm! If you can’t make it in person we will post the livestream link as soon as it’s available! We hope to see as many of you there as possible 🤎✊🏾
