Our theme today for our staff was Dolly, and on the very day we were celebrating her, we learned of her passing.

We’ll remember Dolly with every butterfly we see, every book we share, and every reader who succeeds. 📚🦋

Her kindness, generosity, and love for children and literacy will live on forever.

Thank you, Dolly, for leaving the world a little brighter. 💗✨The Ville will always love you.

🤝🎒 Kindergarten Readiness Series: #7 I can take turns and share! I can follow directions!🎒🤝

Kindergarten is all about learning, growing, and being part of a classroom community. Two important skills that help children have a successful start are learning how to take turns, share with others, and follow directions.
Here are a few ways to practice at home:
🧩 Play games that encourage taking turns and waiting patiently for your turn.🤝 Practice sharing toys, supplies, and activities with siblings or friends.👂 Give your child simple directions and encourage them to listen carefully and complete each step.⭐ Practice following 2-3 step directions, such as “Put your shoes away, grab your backpack, and meet me at the door.”😊 Praise your child when they show kindness, patience, and teamwork.

These everyday moments help children build confidence, make friends, and become successful members of their kindergarten classroom!

That’s a wrap on our Kindergarten Readiness Series!
We hope your kindergartener is excited for an amazing year—we can’t wait to meet you!
❤️💙💛

✏️✂️ Kindergarten Readiness Series: #6 I know how to hold a pencil and use scissors ✂️✏️

Kindergarten is full of opportunities to draw, write, create, and explore! Building fine motor skills before school starts helps children feel more confident when completing classroom activities like writing their name, coloring, cutting, and creating projects.

Here are a few ways to practice at home:
✏️ Encourage your child to practice holding a pencil or crayon with a comfortable grip.
🖍️ Let them draw pictures, color, trace shapes, and practice writing their name.
✂️ Practice using child-safe scissors to cut paper, follow lines, or create fun crafts.
👍 Remind them to use their “thumbs up” position when holding scissors and to cut safely.
🎨 Provide opportunities for playdough, puzzles, coloring, and other activities that strengthen hand muscles.

These small activities help develop the skills your child will use every day in kindergarten!
