Today, Mrs. Stoner’s technology class had an exciting opportunity to learn from guest speaker Chris Fuller from Pioneer RESA! Students learned how to use Tinkercad, a design program used to create 3D models that can be printed on our new 3D printer.

We are so thankful for the Oglethorpe Power and Green Power Renewable Energy STEAM Grant for making this possible. Our students are excited to turn their ideas into real creations with this amazing new technology!

Pioneer RESA is participating in the Georgia Movie Academy. The 2026 theme is "Joy in the Journey". Any K12 student in Pioneer RESA can participate. Each team needs a coach and 3-8 members. Consistent images can elevate a presentation by creating a cohesive style. I just finished the Canva keynote and there are some new features that you can add into your toolbox. Previously, you could copy the style of an image and Canva would apply the colors of an image to the slide. It was great for grabbing colors that complimented each other and creating an excellent looking slide. Now you can copy the art style! That means turn a 3d object into an animated object or a colorful icon into a black and white illustration.

Since joining the team at Pioneer RESA I’ve found that I’m a tech nomad. Instead of sitting at a desk and completing a project I travel between locations and getting work done in any down time that I have. FYI: The school resource office will pay you a personal visit if you’re sitting in a school parking lot for an extended period answering emails. I’ve been taking advantage of Chrome’s tab group feature. The groups sync across your devices. I can start researching for the week’s newsletter on my laptop, hop in the car, and pick up where I left off while I sit in the car rider pick up line.

Stephens County Schools is excited to share a new resource for parents- Parent ProTech, provided through the Georgia Department of Education as part of the Protecting Georgia’s Children on Social Media Act of 2024 (Senate Bill 351).

Parent ProTech is a free program for all Georgia public school parents, offering:
-Training on setting parental controls and monitoring tools.
-Digital citizenship lessons and short videos.
-Tips for managing your child’s online activity and conversations about safety.

We also invite all parents to attend our Digital & Social Media Workshop on Monday, November 17, from 5:30–6:30 p.m.

I got to sit on a panel with some proud UWG Department of Educational Technology & Foundations alumni and encourage future EdTech leaders in Georgia. We discussed the differences between our day to day jobs, what prepared us for these roles, and the importance of building strong trust and relationships with the teachers we serve.
